Re:obdo-obd1 dizzy
No. THe reluctor wheel inside the distributor is different.
It is not ghetto to use an A6 (OBD0) distributor on your Z6 (OBD1) motor. It doesn't matter, as long as you (with the Z6) you set the ignition timing correctly. This includes hacking the distributors ears so you can get the correct amount of adjustment needed to set proper timing. Back to the reason why it's not ghetto.. and it's actually quite proper... Rule #2989293809.7 in the Honda Vault of Knowledge is to use the distributor generation that matches your ECU's generation. I.E., OBD0 ECU.. use OBD0 distributor. OBD1 ECU, use OBD1 distributor. This is, again, because of the number of splines on the relutor wheel. The ECU uses the signal generated by the spinning of the reluctor wheel (and the count of the number of times the signal is activated) to dictate firing time. Wrong number of spines for the ECU, wrong firing times. Simple as that.. |
Re:obdo-obd1 dizzy
ok well done, thanks alot man for the info, really helped!

Re:obdo-obd1 dizzy
so could you take out one reluctor wheel and put it in another distributor?

Re:obdo-obd1 dizzy
I'm not sure if it's quite _that_ easy, but, yes, I have heard of people rebuilding distributors.

Re:obdo-obd1 dizzy
well as soon as the obd1 distributor da-max is sending me gets here I'll let you know how easy it is to switch the crap.

Re:obdo-obd1 dizzy
I have tried swapping the internals from an a6 dizzy to a z6 one...trust me, it's not worth the hassle. The biggest main problem is the bearing...they are 2 different sizes between both dizzys, and when u try to press them apart, usually the reluctor splines get broken off. If you want a better solution, try using a Y8 head instead...a pm6 dizzy bolts right on.
