OBD2b to OBD1 Conversion help
 

I have a 99 civic ex (D16y8) and i've been looking into hondata for tuning, Obviously i would need to convert my ECU however im not sure which kind of OBD1 to get my hands on do i need a vtec one or does it matter. What else do i need to do on top of getting a OBD1 ecu and conversion harness?

all you need to know and since your car is obd2 (like my sol) your going to have to stock the bitch up for a sticker yearly :(

Ya i actually found what i was looking for like 30min after posting this after searching forever, but what do you mean about the yearly sticker?

For anybody interested in doing an OBD2-OBD1 conversion i thought i would post what i have found. If you are running any civic from 96 and up to about 2000(i think) all came with OBD2 ecu's. If your planning on running hondata like i am in my 99 ex D16Y8, you need to get your hands on a OBD1 ecu. To check which OBD1 ecu works with your engine/car go to the hondata website. On the left side of the home page under Applications there is a link that shows you the suitable replacement OBD1 computer for your ride based on vehicle/engine. If you want to make it easy just use the wizard under Applications as well. After getting an OBD1 ecu you'll need to get a OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness. Make sure to find out if you need a OBD2a or OBD2b harness. After you have your ecu and harness get the s100 program put it in your ecu and boom! OBD2-OBD1 conversion complete! or at least from what i have found it should be ready to tune. Oh and the s100 from hondata fits inside the ecu for anyone that was wondering.

Anyone feel free to correct me on this stuff, but this is just what i have found from my researching.

Conversion Harness 70-80$

Good, thats the first part of it. Yes if you want vtec to work you need to get an obd1 ecu that has vtec. Then you gotta pray your state if you are in the USA doesnt have emissions testing or go make a new friend. Where i live they are trying to get it implimented thus the scanner won't be able to communicate with the obd1 computer.
