obd2 sucks!
well I hope to be starting a new setup on my 2000 GSR soon, but I have one big problem. Naturally I want to convert to obd1 and use Ectune however in NY state every year you have to get an inspection done that includes an obd2 scan for all 96 and up cars, and from what I gather, if the scanner can't communicate with the car, (which is what will happen if I convert to obd1, DUH) then it doesn't pass inspection, and it can't get registered, that would be no bueno! SO what obd2 options do I have?? just an fmu and map check valves? that would really blow ass. I am only gonna do a mild street set up because this is my DD and it's a minty GSR that I don't want to blow up, I plan on a 60 trim t3 at about 6-7 psi so maybe the fmu would be ok but I would rather not....so wtf should I do??

when you have to go in for inspection, put the stock injectors back in, remove the wastegate spring and use the stock obd2 ecu. then after you pass, put it all back. its like 30min of work once a year.

this is all good in theory, except that the state obd2 inspection analyzer that they plug into the car does IM readiness checks, and most ecus don't reset the IM readiness codes untill about 150-200 miles of drive time :(

i wonder if anyone has tried using a tactrix cable like on the subys and evos and using such programs as tuner pro rt, or even rom raider (seen someone use rom raider on a dodge stratus, actually have their bin on my laptop?)
I cant figure out why no one has developed a solution for obd2 yet seeing that by manufacturing of obd2 is supposed to be re writable is it not? |

lots of people do it |
so the obd2 ecu will pass the IM readiness checks after a short drive? I was told it takes quite a bit of driving? and I actually have a guy that would pass it, however he claims it is impossible to cheat these tests?

glad i just moved to mississippi...no emissions :)
|
so if you had a dead battery the day b4 you would fail and loose the right to reregister your car?
