obd2 to obd1 dizzy conversion

Ok heres the deal, ive got a 97 prelude sh that i race on the local dirt track. Spun a bearing in the original motor and found a jdm h22 for 200 bux so i swapped it in. I got the motor in and everything plugged up but no spark or fuel and im guessing thats cus theres no crank angle sensor, thing is this motor didnt come with one. Ive got the car converted to obd1 and have an obd1 dizzy so is there a way to use that dizzy and get away without using the crank angle sensor? Is there a diagram on how to wire the obd1 dizzy into the obd2 harness? All suggestions are welcome. Id really like to rewire if i could instead of taking the whole buttom end apart and changing everything for the crank angle sensor.

ok i got this info a bit ago, thanx. now i read that my obd1 dizzy that came on this motor should have the sensors located internally, is that correct? If so can i run the 4 wire plug thats on my harness that originally went to the crank sensor to this dizzy? Since i converted the ecu to obd1 it shouldnt reconize this type of setup correct?

do the dizzy wiring, i think it should work without touching the wiring that was originally for the crank sensor on the oil pump (this is what youre talking about, right?). Oddly enough when i made my conversion harness from an obd2 car to an obd1 dizzy, i couldve sworn that all of the colors matched up , but my memory sucks

my harness going to the dizzy has 4 wires and my obd1 dizzy that was on the motor has 8 i think it was. The plug on the harness that would have gone to the crank sensors has 4 wires so i was asking if thats the 4 extra wires i need to tap into the dizzy?

I just realized that the diagram above and the link to the one you just gave me, some wires dont match, its like they got a few mixed up, so which one is right?

* OBDII -----------> OBDI--------> function

* Black..................White............CYP M
* Red................White/Blue........TDC M
* White.............Blue/Yellow........CKP M
* Yellow...............Orange...........CYP P
* Green............Orange/Blue.......TDC P
* Blue...............Blue/Green........CKP P
* Yellow/Green...Yellow/Green......ICM
* Green...............Green.............ICM

Re: obd2 to obd1 dizzy conversion

i have only matched them up by using the OBD1 and OBD2 service manuals. The colors of the wires were not the same between the OBD1 distributor and my OBD2 engine harness.

I have tried both ways and my way was the only time it even tried to fire. I just now went out and tried the other diagram and it gives no hint of wanting to fire. I dont have a friend with me so i cant determine if i am getting fire or not but i took the igniter out of my OBD2 distributor and put it in the OBD1 distributor to see if that was the problem and neither fixed it.

i found someone else online who had had the procedure done and i have been waiting for pictures so i can confirm what goes where.

from the other diagram, we have the CKP and CYP wires flip flopped. I would recommend trying both and then confirming to us which one worked so i can either fix my diagram or know that mine works.

I've narrowed my problem down to buying a junk OBD1 distributor so please get back to me if you get this cured.

thanks :)

did you change your injectors? i know i still got the peak n hold in the engine now but without anything wired up they were doin anything anyway. Im gettin a set this week tho for 40 bux. I think im gonna head out on tuesday n mess with everything. This is gonna be so much easier then swapping the whole bottom end out.
