OBD1 ecu running obd2 trans
I have an auto obd2 trans, can i run an obd1 ecu with conversion harness and still be able to use the obd2 trans? or do I need to get an obd1 transmission?

Re: OBD1 ecu running obd2 trans
chipped. i was talking with the guy who made my harness, and he said it mgiht not work because of the obd2 transmission. but if the ecu is chipped, would it work then?
also, i'll prolly be pming you in a week or so about getting an ecu chipped. i think kevin dicked me over, i havent heard ---- from him in over 3 weeks about my ecu, and i pm'd him serveral times. so im prolly gonna ahve you chip an ecu for me, unless you have ecu's ready to be chipped... |

As far as I know, OBD1 D-Series motors can run an auto ECU on Uber/Crome, but the B-Series cannot. I dont know how this is affected when you cross over to OBD2 Might want to search around and post on PGMFI |

Re: OBD1 ecu running obd2 trans
it's not the ecu, it's the harness, i bet 50 bucks. i tested the ecu in my car, and then even tested it in an obd1 auto car as well (that's what took so long, i had to find someone with an auto obd1 to be completely sure). there is only one person making obd2->obd1 auto conversion harness', and even he claims they 'may not work'. who did your conversion harness? do you get cel's? do you have your injectors wired up corectly? have you checked for spark on each of the plugs?

I got no spark or fuel with the obd1 ecu, took off the wires and tested each one, nothing. Then steve told me to put a screw driver on the injector to listen for a click, did it on all of em, nothing. I did get a cel when i tried starting it with the obd1 ecu. Then I got bored and curious and tried starting it with the stock ecu, and it did fire for about 5sec, and exhaust did come out, and there was fuel and spark. Im stumped here.... :-\ |
