Default Not A Honda...MAF Question

I have a 90 Miata and am doing ITB's. Question, is there a way to hot wire, trick, remove the MAF all together on stock ECU? On any car? I know a MS or something is best, but money right now, and I want to make sure mechanically it all works. Or is there a way to remove the MAF an convert the ECU to accept a MAP instead on stock ECU? Any DIY controller to make? I know a lot of DIY'ers are here, so I came

Thanks!

Simon

You can but it never works perfectly. Your ECU is designed to KNOW the mass of the charge entering the engine where as a MAP ECU is designed to give a half assed descent guess at it.

Just make a box for your ITBS and keep the denso AFM thats aleady on the car, I promise... It's less restrictive than a MAF with a larger ID. Trap doors FTW.

Unfortunately they still work for ----. MAFT pro used to be pretty big with the DSM guys, but in the end they always go back to the original maf setup or step up to a full stand alone. You could probably look into MegaSquirt, probably one of the cheapest entry level DIY setups there is.

There's a PnP version of MS for this thing also... For the technically "challenged"

The MAF system basicly takes into account overall flow & engine RPM, then uses a k-value & other tables to glue it all together. Its not that easy to convert Load vs RPM into something a MAF ecu can understand. Thats why the converters suck.

In otherwords, you're a bit retarded for putting mods before management. Its like buying a condom after you knock you bitch up. :1
