I've got a Turbo ZC DOHC, 6-10psi boost, small intercooler, stock ecu, stock injectors. After-market air/fuel regulator, rods, pistons, flywheel, other stuff. No fuel management to speak of. I've got 3000 miles on it so far, no problems. However, several people on this forum have told me I am crazy or worse. Unless you got a spare engine (which I do) you probably want to listen to them. We have not run into detonation problem as we lowered the compression to about 8.5:1 with the JE pistons, but it doesn't get enough fuel under boost (runs slightly lean), and if I gave it hell I would run into problems.

Why would you do that though?

After-market air/fuel regulator
WTf is an After-market air/fuel regulator? An FMU?

Anyways, your either full of ---- or you're retarded. How exactly can you explain how your ECU/fuel system is compensating for boost with more fuel if it doesn't have any way to do so? This is bullshit. Are you running one of those electric turbos? That's the only kind of "boost" I could see you running without ANY fuel management. Now, if you explain that your "After-market air/fuel regulator" is actually an FMU, then that is a type of fuel management and you just don't know what you're talking about. Which is it? Sorry if I sound like a dick, but I don't want people running around thinking they don't need fuel to boost.

EDIT: Yeah, here he is complaining that he is having fuel management problems. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/forum/...threadid=12074

my friend bought a turbo kit for his 98 civic with no fuel management running 5pounds boost and it is a piece of ----! If you go over 3000 rpm there is this loud *** clanking coming from his engine. He is about to get power fc and larger injectors so that should help right?

if that loud clanking is detonation than he basically ------- himself in the ***. Detonation scars your motor, makes ---- weaker so when you put some actual boost to it the ---- blows up. 10psi, perfect a/f threw a rod through the block on a B18C1 this is becuase we used to detonate the ---- out of it running 20psi and listening to it crackle.

we didn't want to do this, but ---- happens when you only have a FMU, BTM, boost controller and a need for speed(lethal combination)

slightly retarded it seems.

yeah, I was talking about an FMU, which in retrospect means I do have some amount of fuel management, I wasn't really counting that as I thought they were talking about a more comprehensive fuel management system like a standalone ECU or other mods. Guess I shoulda read the previous posts a little closer. Anyway, I wasn't trying to say anybody should run without fuel management, just stating that I had got away with minimal fuel management and not run into any major problems yet.

Ah, well that makes more sense. An FMU can handle boost up to around 10 if you are brave. Anything under 10psi is fine for an FMU. Sorry for the comments. I was just trying to figure out how you were figuring you don't have any management, but you were boosting. Thanks for clearing that up.
