no fuel/spark... NO START!!!! you will be stumped.


Ok... So i replaced the transmission...

Key point...

(i forgot to take the neg. battery terminal off before this)
WHEN REMOVING THE STARTER ON THE TRANNY i grounded something w/ the wrench, gave myself a damn good zap, and sparks flew... I hit the Positive wire w/ the socket extention (which was grounded on the bolt i was taking out)


NEXT>>>> after installing the new tranny, hooking up all wires (reverse, speed sensor, 02, etc) went to go start it up... and i hear a VERY RAPID ping/click coming from under the dash...

Turns out it was the PGM-FI Main Relay. Replaced that w/ a new one. No more clicking.


When turning the key to "on" (not acc. or start)... i DO NOT hear the fuel pump... When i jump the #5, #7 terminals, the Fuel pump runs.

So, i get fuel pressure... when i jump the terminal.



I do not get spark, and i checked the injector harnesses w/ an LED guage... the injectors are not firing, and the spark is non existant. ALSO, w/ the brand new relay plugged in, the fuel pump doesn't come on.

WHAT ------- BLEW?!?!?! i'm stumped... New relay, no blown fuses.
(yes i checked the under-hood fuses, and in the under-dash fuse box)


I am 100% positive that all sensors and plugs are plugged in. What else could be wrong?!?! the distributor is brand new also.


Any guesses?!?!?! Is there another relay?

I'll "guess" and say that you should check the ignitor in the distributor or try another ECU.

all fuses are good... this is really REALLY ------ weird.
i've checked every fuse under the dash and under the hood down to the defrosters, and the radio, pwr window fuses...

I havn't checked the ignitor yet...

Still doesn't describe why the injectors wouldn't fire...

I dont have a spare ECU lying around though.

are you getting a cel? maybe when you touched the starter with the wrench you might back fucked up the ecu.

does the car turn over?? if not it might be because some clips are in the wrong spots

i got the same problem bud but mine happened during my mpfi swap. does the engine light stay on when you turn the key and try to start it or does it go out like it supposed to. and does the ecu blink once when you turn on the key i have been at this for like a month or 2 still cant figure it out

every light on the dash comes on (except for high beams and blinkers)
All these lights STAY on.



EDIT... FIXED!!!!

I painted my tranny when i replaced it... but didnt scrape the paint off of where the ground wires (x2) bolt on to... I scraped them... and BROOOOM vroom vroom!

ground wires can own you pretty easily
