Re: nissan chipping
Depends on the ECU. 90-94 300ZX, CA18DET, early KA24E (like, 89-90??) are EPROM. The later cars require an adapter board that requires an extraordinarily gay offset dual chip setup. www.bikirom.com had a USB multiboard in the works that looked exceedingly pimpy, allows you to reflash the ECU via USB cable, and is the route I would go.
Keep in mind, later OBD2 stuffs gets very wierd, the code itself is encrypted and the people in the know about them don't talk. |
Re: nissan chipping
JD... what's the scoop on KA24DE ECU chipping? I've been talking to Mike off and on, and he's given up(?). I he's got consult working... but no tuning. Only VG30s... are we missing something for out wanna-be drifter brethern?

Re: nissan chipping
Mike probably gave up because the 240 faggots are a bunch of whiny bitches and wouldn't do anything except hoard information. The 300ZX guys are wierdfuks, but they know how to stick together.
Lotsa Nismo code is cross-compatible. Sorta like OBD0 VTEC fuel and ignition formula are the same as OBD0 non-VTEC stuffs? Since we're dealing with a MAF system, as long as you get the correct MAF calibration table, injector size, and injector deadtime figures tweaked in a hex editor you are set. None of that ------- about cell by cell trying to deduce ideal (or more common - close enough) values for fuel and ignition. Splice 300ZX turbo MAF tables into RNN14 or KA-stuff ECU, use appropiate injector scaling and deadtime values, and run the (turbo or non, same unit) 300ZX MAF. Pump gas engine management to 500 whp, and is a "universal" chip. In truth, things always need a little massaging when going for big power figures, but... The data table locations are found on ztechz Forum with a little searching. |

..so what about Toyotas? Had much work with those? I have a small projet going (http://www.ProjectAE86.com) and my motor is picked, and awaiting order. I'm just itching to break some new ground here... |
Re: nissan chipping
No ------- clue about Toyotas. Some of the early EFI on, say, the ~85 Celica was just Bosch LH-Jetronic licensed for use by Toyota. Cold start injector + everything.
If it's more than just the similitude, there's LH-Jetronic code dumps and editors out there. Aside from lengthening the engine harness on a 3S-GTE swap, and basic maintainence on pickups and Forerunners in the bad old days, I have zero Toyota experience. |

Re: nissan chipping
I am starting to mess with nissans, there are a few companies that sell the daughterboards. I am mostly going to be doing Sr20s, since that is where the majority of the nissan crowd is at.
