Nice Terrabomb I like it. I've been trying to come up with a way to make a removable USB (Nokia) cable. It would just be alot cleaner and less clutter without it being installed all the time. So, from your pictures it looks like you used a male DB9 connector. Then you mentioned about hooking up your "phone" cable. I assume there's some sort of Serial to USB adapter in there at the DB9 and USB cable?

You can also just use a female 4-pin header connector. Easily removable, and you datalog with the top off anyway ( when tuning) But that is nice and clean.

(Copied reply from Ubersite)--"Nice Job :D I like that idea alot instead of having to leave a cable permanently installed in the ecu. I may give this a try the next USB mod I do (thumbsup)". Thats the best Dloging vid I've seen ;)

thanks man. I'll do one on a simple switch to change back from stock to chip programming this week sometime. I gotta get the video of my FTL working up on the net. I don't know why I haven't seen it before

Yeah...you can just use the molex parts to solder in the header to the ecu and attach the female end to the cable.

Its what I do but your write-up is clean and people love pics :)

Craig: Couldn't have been done with out the willem. Thanks bud. I should have taken your advice about the moates now though. I gotta build a box for the willem out of fiberglass so I don't break it while driving. I gotta pretty good idea on a glove box setup.. I'll post pics when I get it done.

i did something like that this weekend because i hated to have to keep taking that kick panel off to get to the ecu. but i am using the serial cable. i ran the serial cable from the ecu to behind the glove box, cut out a spot for it and secured it in with the screws. now if i need to hook up to it all i do is open the glove box and plug in my 4 foot cable.

You just go purchase the D-sub connectors at radioshack or wherever you want and just match the pins up on each.

I did that set-up on MNCRXSi's ECU, works really well. I got the idea back in the day from Projekteg using the serial cables with the maxx32. Nice write-up though.

The cables are just USB data cables. The phone end is cut off and replaced with the purchased connector.
