new to wideband usage
im installing my jaw WB that i just bought and built.
im kinda confused as to what happens to my stock NB o2 sensor. does it stay or go. i only want to run on one o2 sensor if possible. im also installing my megasquirt at the same time. well i should say im installing the MS II after the WB gets installed. or is there a certain order of these things. this is my first time ever tuning. |
Re: new to wideband usage
ok so i took out the NB sensor and just set it aside still connected just reading the outside air.
i hooked up the WB sensor and the jaw reader and started the car. my reader displayed 10.18. im wondering if that might be because the NB was just seeing the air and the ECU was compensating sending way more fuel in. ran it at idle for a little bit and it was fine. did not drive it or even push the throttle. |
Re: new to wideband usage
Don't know about that one, but my Haltech/Innovate has 2 outputs, one 5v, and 1v. 5V for regular wideband readout, 1v for stock O2 reading like for a sotch ECM. MS should be configurable to use the 5v signal.

hmmm. weird

Re: new to wideband usage
If you idle at 10.18 the car would idle wierd. You probably have something wrong with the JAW's configuration.

Re: new to wideband usage
yeah im going to try and use a different software config
see if it changes anything. |
Re: new to wideband usage
I just got my jaw also. I assume you got a 1.03
How long did it take to get it? I'm noob at widebands too and I'm trying to get my setup going. Did you do the free air calibration in jaw edit? I'm pretty sure mine idled at around 11 when I first started it, but I do have a super low idle, I don't know if that would be the cause. Don't you have to let the sensor heat up before it gives accurate readings? I've got mine out of the car now to put it in a box. Maybe I can help in a few days when I get it back in the car. |
Re: new to wideband usage
yeah maybe it needs to heat up before it will read accurately.
it was idling at a little under 2k and was reading 10.18. i am going to reload 1.10 onto it and see if that changes anything. |
Was it a steady idle? That rich I would expect it to load up and stall out.

When the motor is cold (under 160*F) it will idle a little rich, in the 12:1-13:1 range. Once warm, you should be idling between 14.5:1 and 15.0:1. I pretty much tune cruise for 15.5-16.0:1 to save on gas. EDIT: well ----, that smilie is stupid. Double edit: ok, it's gone now. <:D |
