new to turboedit question?

I recently ordered a chipped ecu from xenocron and installed, but it will not idle or even start unless i hold down the throttle at least 10-15 percent. Is this normal? I do realize that it needs to warm up and go thru 2 full cycles, but if it is not even idling this is not possible.

setup is d16a6 with y8 head and vitara pistons
also I have brand new injectors 450dsms.

and wideband is showing a reading or 11.5-12.1 for idle with a pressure reading of 35psi.

should I just reburn another chip?

sounds a little rich for a cold start idle, but my crx still idled at 10:1 afr's when i first set it up with turboedit, possibly you have a problem thats not ecu related? is it throwing any codes? sure your timing is right?

Re: new to turboedit question?

no codes and timing is dead on have checked that I replaced the injectors because I was getting a code 16 ,and as for idle with stock ecu and a sfmu it would idle but at like 10:5 afr now this thing will not idle at all unless I give it the smallest amount of throttle.

I am thinking of reburning it with something like NG_60 Splitime.bin and going from there. I am just a suprised that the thing would not at least idle but will see.

I am open to any tuning advice as I am 100% that is my problem and is because of lack of TurboEdit knowledge. Anyone in the DFW area that could help me tune? I have a wideband and will even buy a emulator if they have a laptop.

Re: new to turboedit question?

It could very well be the y8 head... wish I could offer more. Timing and y8 head and ecu maps are being looked into recently with some help from J.Davis... if i had worked on one... i'd offer some help... but i haven't

Try to read up on the post here.. and then the post on www.pgmfi.org and get an idea... then get turboedit and start fiddling some.

Re: new to turboedit question?

well here is the thing that confuses me reset everything and ran the motor for 15-20 minutes and afr got to 13.1 with turboedit, now I go for test drive and car is immediatly lean (with no boost) this is just pulling out of gararge, around the block and back in.

Now one problem that might be happening is that my fpr regulator is jacked, I say this because it is a modified stock one with B&M conversion on top, I have a stock z6 fpr regulator that I will try out and see what the hell is going on.

12.1 at cold idle is decent actually...warming up your motor needs more fuel

as far as going lean after you try to go for a drive...how lean is it going?

16:1-17:1 at 2000-2500 rpms

Under properties... what are your fuel multipliers set to? the 2 rows of single digits.... list them.

Re: new to turboedit question?

As far as you haveing to give it throtle to start, ethier your TB valve is to far closed or you air filter is clogged. possibly a bad iacv. during cold start the rpms increase to 1500-2000 via the iacv.

with 450cc injectors with the stock ecu your going to be running rich as hell. with stock injectors the a/f ratio at idle is 13.1 w/ 450cc you going to be spraying almost twice as much fuel at the same duty cycle. you need to decrease the duty cycle in idle.

Re: new to turboedit question?

well car is running good after about 5 chip reburns boosting to 10psi dont know what kind of power it is making but it pulls very very smooth and very very hard, what I had to do was change fuel pressure settings in turboedit from 35 to 30 then adjust rpm levels from 500-1100 using boost gauge and afr as monitors I do run slightly lean at 7000 rpms but I cannot tell for sure because my intercooler pipes blew off!!!! ---- scared the crap out of me thought that I blew my motor..

I did manage to kick the crap out of a new gt mustang!!!! but kinda got stomped by a guy in a c5 z06 not by much about 1.5 car links but after words he told me that it was" pretty fast for a 4banger" of course I was thinking in my head " WAIT TILL I TURN UP THE BOOST B#T%H" I have to admit though that tuning would be much easier using a laptop and romulator..would have saved me hours..but I am very satisfied with TurboEdit result so far..

i will try to post pics on my cardomain site but here is my setup
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2134337 (first pick is of me in Chichen Itza just had tumor removed from my hand for the second time so was not in the best of moods)

d16a6 block /y8 head(comp valve springs) and eagle rods(from tuner toys) and vitara pistons(from fjt)
t3/t4 .48 stage III exhaust wheel from downto turbo on ebay
ssautochrome manifold -rewelded by me and 2.5 inch downpipe to 2.5 exhaust not cat and magnaflow
ssauto knockoff wastegate
ssauto knockoff blowoff
ebay intercooler 3.5 inches thick with 2.5 in and out
