Re: Need Washington tuner (Turbo Edit) !!!!!!!!!!!
well im kinda a noob at uberdata but reading all i can. If someone wants to chat and answer a few questions for me id be grateful. Im sure theyve been answered before I just need to find them. Im going obd1 upgrade. Ive already got my p06 ecu chpiied uberdata, obd0-obd1 harness complete. I need to add the 2 dizzy wires to my engine harness and Im curious about the 4 wire 02 sensor delete option? Ive got 2 02 sensors stock so that 4 wires. would I repin at the ecu harness or is it easier to just turn of the need for the other 2 wires with uberdata? Im going to be looking for a tuner in the next little bit but would like to chat with someone to make sure I get it all gravy so theres no issues when I go to tune. Ive read tuners hate that crap.

1) Make sure you have 90% of the solder removed. There will almost always be a little residual bit of solder still holding the pin to the pad/hole of the ECU, just make sure you've gotten as much as you can get consistently across the ECU. If it's hard to get one hole cleared, DO NOT keep dumping heat into the board with the iron as this ruins the ECU. Add a little bit more solder, and that will let the solder you can't quite get to wick up into your desoldering iron.
2) Take a super small pair of long tipped needle nose pliers, and wiggle each protruding pin on the bottom of the ECU back and forth, side to side. You may or may not hear a small pop and the pins should all wiggle pretty freely after the first gentle yank. Well, you've only freed half of the pins and freed the bottom side of the other half.
3) I use a slightly different pair of pliers, or a small flat screwdriver, to push at the pins from the top side. You just want to push aginst the outside flat of the pin towards the inside. Most of the pins will make a pop noise when you do this.
4) EPROM all but falls out.
It's the OBD1 stuff with the endless 1001 little holes that annoy the hell out of me, and with how pin #1 is sunk into the ground plane and disperses heat they are hard to get clean with a cheap desoldering iron. I stepped on the Hakko iron, and have been too cheap to replace it. I'd rather bitch than get the $150 tool that makes it gravy. I'm an idiot like that.

Im not partial to OBDO because I dont have a working Dlogging/maptracing ECU. Doing part throttle by watching A/F and a vacuum gauge is doable, just not likeable.
OBD1 for life.
