Anyone in southern cali know how to tune with Turbo Edit? I live in SD and will need to find a tuner within a month or so. Thx!

Shaun Church Auto Tune in LA @ 310-787-7123 said he can do it for $150 per hour. Average dyno time is 2 hrs. Not bad.

Jesus ---- man, $300 for a tune? :-\

Come down to the meet in Fontana next weekend. I should have my laptop up and running by then and I'd be happy to throw it on your car. :)

that's actually not bad. the dyno around here is 120 and hr just for dyno time, doing your own tuning.

what sux is in my area, they dont kno what uber is, so when i ask for dyno time, its 60 an hour but they wont let me use a lap top and my burner, he said i should jus put an afc and use that to fine tune my basemap... i didn't agree.

Wow, a "tuner" told you that? :-\ That's a new one. I'm surprised he didn't tell you to throw an FMU on it. ::)

If you do decide to take your car to the dyno and shell out big bling, Shawn at Church would be a good choice.

actually he did, he kept tellin me im gonna blow up cuz i need the fmu to compensate fuel for boost... i dont kno what it is with san diego race shops. they dont believe in any other fuel management then fmu, afc, or AEM standalone. im poor. uber is my friend

street tuning is your friend.

If you are gonna drop $300 on tunning, just spend that on your own set-up.

Street tuning is more accurate as far as A/F ratios go...you cant properly replicate the airflow the IC and rad sees while on the street or the ambient temps.

The only thing dynos are useful for are safety, steady state (ignition timing tuning) and power readings (well, thats not really ALL, but for this discussion it is)

We'll I'm sure I would be ok with street tuning but since I have the cash why not do it right? If both were free, would you still pick street tuning Chris? :-\

If it were free...I'd street tune first, get good AFRs with a solid timing basemap. Then hop on a dyno and tune in the timing maps and change the fuel maps as they change (because of timing changes)

When the tune was solid on the dyno...I would take it back out on the street and nit-pick any points that show up on the street in the fuel maps that didnt show up on the dyno.

Street tuning is reliable. Use the $300 that you would spend on the dyno and get yourself a wideband O2. Listen to what xenocron said and you may only need an hour on the dyno to make some timing adjustments after you have street tuned a good basemap. Plus you will be happy that you did it yourself and gained some valuable experience. ;) Good luck
