Need help hooking up vtec (b16a1)
 

Hey guys

Finally got the civic going, 4psi and no vtec... with the VTEC part, i just tried to make a switch of the 12v to the ecu and to the VTEC wire. It didnt work tho.. would that be because i used 12v goin to the ecu... should i use it somewhere else.. it definatly does something, but just sounds like its sorta missfiring.. i did do it when i was driving the car as well.

Took the car to the street races the other night, thrashed 2 WRX's up to 200k's and a vr4.. Goes well, but need the vtec for the higher revs.. 8)

Could i use a VAFC to do the vtec part.. does it have to also go to the ecu as im using a PM7 which has no vtec part.

So basically just the wire to the solenoid hooked up but not to the ecu

is ur car a 88-91? and u have a 1st gen b16 in it right? if so get a pr3 and wire up vtec to it.

Thats correct.. but im using a PM7 ecu with 45occ injectors and a map for 6psi .. just gotta find some other way of doing it

Yes you can use the VAFC for your VTEC activation...in fact with what you have sounds like the only way to do it.

Check the FAQ about wiring in your VAFC...you should wire it in as the instructions tell you and then if you ever need to make small fuel corections on the fly the VAFC would be handy for that...and of course controlling VTEC activation.

Stock map?! ---- that.. i said im running a map for 450cc and boost.. generally when you make a map you adjust it for the injector sizes :P
