need engine management suggestions

I have a 91 crx si, with a jdm b16a with itr cams,
Im going to be strapping on a rev hard kit in the next 3-4 weeks, and I dont know what im going to do about engine management. I only plan to run 7psi.

So what i want to know is, can i get by okay with the inline fuel pump, fmu, and a missing link, without the risk of grenading my motor?

Id like to do turbo edit, but according to the guy who wrote it, he said they havent solved all the problems with vtec and such.

Would the vafc hack work for me with dsm injectors? Will i be able to go to a tuner and have them tune my setup using the vafc or are they going to look at me like im retarded.

I dont feel comfortable tuning the car myself thats another reason im not sure the turbo edit will work for me, I dont think any of the local shops around me (jotech, intercrew ) will know how to work it and tune my car?

what should i do?

Hell yeah, the vafc works ------ great I'm boost 10-11psi
w/1 check valve inbetween the fpr & BOV so I won't get a CEL, 450s dsm, 255 walboro, & .63 trim nissan t3. When boost kicks in on !st gear the tires chirp. Distributor retarded 6 degrees w/ngk 4091 gapped .0028. Check the fi forum for my pics. ;D

did your local shop tune it for you or did you do it yourself?

get 450's, use turbo edit, and use a vafc.

don't use vtec in the rom (Disable in turboedit), and use the vafc to enable and up the fuel a touch for vtec.

if you go this route, do not use the vafc as in the afc hack faq. use it simply to control vtec, as if you did not have the 450's or a turbo.

Re:need engine management suggestions

so basically use the vafc with all default settings, except for vtec?

Does anybody know when turbo edit will support vtec?

also on the pr3 map it only goes to 7400

what would i do for the rest of the rpm band?

you mean the t/b and map sensor?

i would use TE personally, its a lot cheaper

is anybody with a b16 swap in there crx running turbo edit that i could talk to? i downloaded the pr3 base map and it only went to 7400 rpm, whats the deal with that?

Re:need engine management suggestions

No, it doesn't only go to 7400 on the high cam..

I just don't know what the RPM scale is so I filled it in the low cam.

I personally don't use a PR3.. it's a piece of ---- ECU.

Second, there is no boost code for a PR3, so you would _have_ to use the AFC hack when using a PR3 ECU anyway.

If you want to use TurboEDIT to control your boost, use a PM6, and the PGMFI-NG26 bin (current as of this post).

Re:need engine management suggestions

okay,

so if i use the pm6 bin, what do i do about vtec?

i opened up the pr3 bin again just to look and no matter what i do i cant see any rpm past 7400 it wont let me resize the window or do anything with it.

Same with the bin that you suggest, when i open it up i cant see anything past 7400

Slowpoke...

I suggest you convert to OBD1, and use Uberdata.
http://www.ecimulti.org/uberdata PM bigwig, he'll help you out.

I think what jason is trying to say is that he did not know the rpm scale of the highcam map at the time the program was written. The rpm scale within the code is the correct scale, something like 500 to 8500 if i remember correctly, it is just not displayed in TE.

All you need to do is take the low cam maps from the pr3, import them into the pm6 rom below your vtec point, then take the high cam maps and import them into the pm6 rom above your vtec point. Do this for both fuel and ignition.

For example, if you want your vtak point at 5000, import the low cam maps into the pm6 code below 5000 and import the high cam maps above 5000. Its as simple as that. Keep in mind that this will be a base map and some adjustment may be needed within the maps at the vtec point to smooth the transition.

You are going to have to use a v-afc or msd rpm activated swtich or some other means of activation for vtak.

If you are still having problems, I have a basemap pm6 rom with pr3 maps. You need to try this on your own first. If you don't try, you will never learn.

are you suggesting this because you dont want to help me? or is uberdata better to use? Is uberdata going to be something i can take to my tuner and have them program me a chip with?

I would suggest using TE to avoid converting to obd1. Either way, if the tuner knows anything about tuning software they should be able to figure it out.
