MSD BTM

Is it true that in order to run the BTM you HAVE to have an MSD ignition. MSD claims that the BTM must be mated to a MSD ignition, but I have heard people allude to running the BTM alone on their stock setup. I would greatly appreciate the help b/c the price difference between the BTM alone and the MSD6-BTM pair up is about $200. On that note, do you think it is worth the $335 to get the MSD6-BTM pair? I will be running 6-8 psi with a 12:1 FMU and upgraded fuel pump, intercooled.

Thanks.

MSD makes 2 BTM's, one for stock ignitions and one for MSD ignitions (they're different part numbers). If you can afford it, I'd say do the MSD ignition set up. You would never think how much better a FI car would run with a good ignition setup. I have an MSD SCI box and a BTM, and I love them both.

Re:MSD BTM

I will say yes. :-) It was well worth the $$$, because I have a nice smooth idle and I never have to worry about my ignition breaking up under high pressure again.

ignition problems blow ass. I would go with the 6al btm setup. I just installed my 7al-2 and the engine revs up nice and crisp.
