Message when I start crome, causing my solid CEL?

I am using cromepro, when I open my bin, I get a message that display's

"critical updates have been made to this ROM. Please update your ECU to reflect these changes."

WTF does that mean I cant figure it out. The ecu works fine but when I connect j1 to read off my chips I get a cel, I've tried removing the checksum, and disabling ----, I cant get it to run without a solid CEL I'm also having a hard time getting the datalogging to work, it doesnt want to connect, I've set the comm ports correctly but no go. I'm going to go over all my solder joints again but they look ok. Please help if you have any ideas!!!!

do you have the header in backwards ie: 1 at opposite side.

u mean pin1 at the wrong side of the socket? No, the chips are in correctly, I just resoldered all the joints, going to go try it again, if it doesnt work I'll try my po6 to determine if its the chip or ecu.

I've tried the same map's and new map's on the amtel chips, using both the burn 1 and the willems and still get a solid cel.

I went over all the solder joints twice, i'm getting pissed. Is there any spots in particular I should look at inside the ecu? is there a way to test this ecu to make sure the chip job is good? when I pull J1, the car runs fine with no cel.

well if you pulled J1 then you know its something wrong with the chip or the solder job.. try your p06 and see if you still get a cel with it if you do then reburn your basemap..

the rom you're using is out of date.

Open a new rom, copy and paste the values from the old one to the new one and add whichever features it had and try burning that now.

I've tried making new rom's and the message goes away, but I still get a solid cel. I've went over every solder joint two times, I'm going to get a socket for the h343 or whatever chip and put a new one in there in a socket so I dont have to solder on that bastard, maybe I heated it up too much.

Are you connected to the internet when you are messing with crome. Did you hit "yes" when it asked "there is a new version out, would you like to update"? It's 1.45 I believe. I had the same issue once I d/l the new version. Once I reverted back to 1.25 the problem went away.

You cannot open an older 1.2 or older rom with 1.4 and have them match up. Rebuild your old roms with 1.4 and then copy in your fuel/timing settings. There aren't any plugins on 1.4. Everything is already listed. Change baud rate to 115200 in crome and try that for datalogging with the new version. It was a bug that might/might not be fixed yet.

I will try that thanks for the info and the suggestions!
