I've been running MS for 2 years now on my 4age 1600cc Corolla, last spring I added a turbo and did the DLI programmable ignition mod. I really really like my MS, it was my first project into the realm of engine management, and I have no regrets, it can do everything I've ever wanted and more therefore I have no plans to switch back to OEM or try other aftermarket setups, plus it's very reliable.

they work great on toyota's and dodges that use batch fire efi systems.

honda's are sequential so putting an MS on there would be like 4 steps back. you'd be better of building a harness and wiring up obd0/1.

i was/still sorta am considering a ms for my dodge daytona but who knows...

you seriously don't think that sequential is 4x better than batch? It's been proven over and over again that all sequential is going to get you is a little more fuel economy and a little better emissions, but that's only with lot's and lot's of tuning with high end analyzers and lot's of expensive dyno time, so if your running a chipped ECU with typical DIY tuning, your sequential isn't doing squat for you over batch.

i didnt ------- say that

i just said using a batch efi system on a sequential engine is retarded. you spray fuel in the manifold and it has to WAIT to be sucked into the cylinder. thats just inefficient.

batch works great on engines designed for it; i wont argue with thtat. but putting batch efi on a sequential motor when so many better and cheaper options exist is like buying a Ferrari Enzo and pulling the motor and puttin in an SBC or some retarded ----. it works but is ------ dumb

Hey Neil-

I was thinking of hooking up megasquirt'n'spark. What made you go for the DLI mod rather than hooking it up using the dizzy. Do you konw much about how megaspark can hook up to our factory ignition? Thanks man,

Colin

Honda has so many good options for it now that MS isn't too practical. Its great for other cars where there are no standalone options

check this one...www.vems-group.org
based on the megasquirt, but it uses sequential injection and can control any ignition type..DIS, distributor.
And has a lot of features..for a 4 cilinder it will add up to about $500 but it's just like a standalone and features that you can add yourself if you want or not..integrated EGT,WBO2 etc etc

Why I got rid of my dizzy;

1) it was just waaay to congested - turbo plumbing/dizzy/brake booster/brake line junction/powersteering all located on the same side of the engine
2) the nearly 20 year old dizzy was worn, had the usual internal oil leaks, parts around here are getting scarce and new parts are expensive - ever priced ignition parts for a 90's escort vs. a first gen Denso EFI? Also, I expected to have all sorts of problems with the ignition components with a turbo stuck between them generating huge under hood temps
3) DLI, less moving parts, lower maintenance, good spark energy, EDIS is standalone and has a 10 degree fail safe mode, great for limp home
4) lot's of ppl have done the conversion, so lot's of guys to work with ( I wasn't the guinea pig )

I really spent alot of time building my harness, I added lot's of new grounds, the engine runs silky smooth with EDIS, and hit's 7500 RPM without hesitation, I couldn't be happier with it. Currently I've been running as much as 13 psi, with stock gapped 4agze plugs, and I haven't had any spark problems with a used EDIS ignition setup, and new OEM wires.
