megasquirt
has anyone on here used the megasquirt fuel controller?from what ive heard it is cheap and very easy to use.a member of probetalk got all the parts needed for one for 126$.total fuel management for 126$ doesnt sound bad to me.let me know what you guys think.

Re:megasquirt
i posted something about this a long time ago. i didnt get any positive replies. but it sounds like a pretty good system if you're trying to be cheap.

Re:megasquirt
i dont see anything cheap about complete fuel management for a price like that.and it does work.

Megasquirt?! Hmm .... sounds like me after a long night of drinking Miller High Life. :) - Matt

Re:megasquirt
works great, I've ran one on my toyota for a few thousand KM's, it was easy to tune, took me about a day to assemble and about 2 days to scrounge up JY sensors and install. Tuneability sure is nice.
With some Ford ignition parts you can have fully distributorless timing control as well. Neil |
Re:megasquirt
Yeah Megasquirt is bang for the buck...good resolution.
Get a 3 bar map sensor with it on board. It's standalone withoute ignition control. It's cheaper than a S-AFC and it has more features and better tuning capabilties |
Re:megasquirt
it can also be used with the ford edis for total engine control now.woot.

Re:megasquirt
it may be inexpensive but it's certainly not just a 'make do' solution. It's as good as alot of the aftermarket systems, it's just no frills packaging. It is developed out of passion for the sport/hobby, not out greed (like Gre(e)dy or HK$ for example.
Fuel control upto 15,000 rpm hi or low impedance injectors 22.5 PSI map sensor built in (2.5 Bar) cold start enrichment control tuneable accel enrichment for max throttle response closed loop control wideband O2 support (as well as narrow band) fast idle control ..and with additional firmware and some JY parts; 2 additional programmable outputs for VTEC, fan, water injection, etc. whatever you want, can be triggered by temperature, boost, rpm ..you choose. Timing control timing and fuel are programmed on 8x8 maps their are probably a few hundred cars driving around with MS these days, with 10's of thousands of miles, if not hundreds of thousands. Definitely worth a look at if you don't own something that can use something like TurboEdit etc. Neil |

Re:megasquirt
In my case the best thing about the megasquirt is that there are no hard limits, it can do whatever the hell I want it to do because I'm pretty good with assembly programming.
It's also bang for the buck, a lot cheaper and lot better than piggy back units, as it has full 3d mapping and there's no hard fuel cut or whatever in it. I'm going to convert mine to a modified version of MegaSquirt'N'Spark (megasquirt with spark control for ignition with a distributor) to drive a coil-on-plug system using GSXR coils. Baldur |
