Making a datalogging cable?
Does anyone have any links or info on a DIY datalogging cable? It doesn't have to be anything fancy because my laptop is stoneage and still has a serial port on the back of it. I used to have a datalogging cable laying around somewhere, but I think it may have "walked off" with one of my buddies. :l Anyway, just need the wiring from the cable to the 4 pin plug and what order they're in. My ecu already has the 4 pin header soldered in, but I can't find my damn cable :7
Or, if anyone has some info on a usb to ttl type of connection, that would work too. I read something somewhere about a cellphone to pc usb cable would work, but I'll probably break down and buy one :P |
Re: Making a datalogging cable?
I think your talking about the nokia cable. IMO, its more of a bitch to make than worth it. + it tends to be buggy if you dont get it just right. Xenocron has the old school cable for you. The one below the USB one that I have used before and works great.

Yeah, I was checking them out. I'll probably just go with the usb cable, so that way if I ever get a newer laptop I can still use it with no problems.

The USB one works wonders. Loved mine when I had it.
Edit: Go to sourceforge.net and find freelog. Thats the ----. Unless you have crome pro. |

If you get a DKU-5 off ebay make sure you use the POP port pin out and not the one for the model of the phone.

Re: Making a datalogging cable?
I just bought a com port cable off Cray. I have a com to usb adapter laying around, so I can use that with my g/f's newer laptop.
