lock down your chip
thought my ecu bought the farm today. here i was street tuning while waiting for my wife to come out of the mall...i get my a/f curve pretty good running uberdata and i'm pretty happy. we go to brunch and then to one more store before heading for home. i let her run in and decide to wait in the car for her. i pull to the end of the parking lot and i'm sitting there and then i get a cel and the car bogs and stalls. it won't restart the the cel won't go out either. she comes out of the store and inform her we might be waiting for a tow. i jump the service connector and it shows just solid cel=code 0=faulty pcm (ecu for the rest of us). luckily i have my tools with me to remove the ecu and decide to take a closer look and figure i could always cut the jumper and possibly limp home if it's a problem with my chip or uberdata or whatever. i open the cover and i see it immediately...whew...the lever for the zif socket was up. when i locked the most recent burned chip down i must have not pushed it all the way down and it popped up unlocking and disabling the chip. strange how it did it while i was sitting in the parking lot after logging about 30 miles.
moral of the story...always double check your chip. lock it down all the way. |
Re:lock down your chip
Lol, My romulator does that ---- all the time, and always in traffic. I keep a 'make it drivable' chip in the car all the time.

Hey Scttydb411, you have any updated .bins for me? ;D I just got the ecu at set and chipped and burned a stock P06 bin to test it. It works nicely. I will double check my ZIF though!

Re:lock down your chip
Anytime I'm running a chiped ECU, I have a stock spare behind my seat. I had one of my chipped PM6's do that to me one day on the freeway on the way home from work.
