local shop tuning turbo edit?
 

i'm getting close to needing to tune turbo edit on my pm6, i still am a bit intimidated by it, theres a local performance shop here well known for multiple hondas running very fast 1/4 times ( 8's,9's,10's) and for some very fast street cars, they have a wideband dyno, and tune aem ems all the time, one of the head techs there has a daily driven 92 hatch with ems and it runs 10.60 on street tires, so i called them and talked to them about turbo edit and uberdata and so forth, and they said they "know of those programs, but have never messed with them". but if they tune aem ems all the time they ought to be able to figure out how to use turbo edit if i take them the car with a laptop and a romulator in it ready to be tuned right? :-\

Yes, essentially it's the same as Hondata. The injector maps and ignition maps are all setup the same. Alot of shops just don't mess with the non consumer programs due to liability reasons. But, if they are interested in checking them out and your willing to let them "learn" the software on your car, they'd probably give it a try. It's much easier to work with than the EMS ;)

Ya alot wont tune it due to it bein it is what it is a free product so somethin goes wrong they get blamed plus most tuners/dyno owners dont bother w/ the free software. I swear a hmt member w/ good tuning skillz could make a livin tunin te/uber

I've heard EMS is very user friendly, plus it's on the fly. :P

No, I havn't got any personal experience with it on my own vehichles, but I probably shouldn't have said it's easier to work with. It's probably the same. A friend of mine had the EMS and never ended up using it because getting it set up was where the problem lies. He sold it and went to Uberdata instead.

I dont care for it at all...it is easy to tune with but all of the setup and the various correction maps you have to ---- with make it more complicated than it really needs to be.

Nothing runs a honda like a honda ecu :)

and this shop said they would tune it, $150/hr. i'm wondering if i want to spend like $225 for 1.5 hrs. if they are even going to be able to acomplish a "safe" tune, or if they're gonna need like 4-5 hrs. to tune it? what do ya think?
