Default in line resistor problem with 450's??

has any one hear experienced a problem with your resistor box or in line resistors? i've never had a problem with them, but my buddy just blew his engine about 2 wks ago and he bought a new short block, the car wasn't running that great to begin with, kind of stumbling at idle a little. anyways, we replace the shortblock this weekend, and start teh car up, it was still running funny, so fine, i burn a new map, still running funny, fine, try another ecu, still running funnny. timing is set, all plugs and injectors are firing, so i can not figure this out. i figure we've checked or changed everything except for the resistors, so i was just wondering if any of you have had experience with bad resistors, or wired them in wrong (i know i didn't wire them in wrong, but i'm thinking it's possible i could have put too much heat on one while soldering or something), and what the symptoms were. his car will idle fine, but as soon as you press the gas, it's real sluggish and bogs and the car has no power, even when in boost it feels like a dog

I have done 3 set-ups with the in-line resistors. Never heard of one going bad. I suppose it is possible. Anything can go bad in the circuit.

Try replacing them or test the resistance with a multimeter.

my symptoms were bullshit and unknown of. jus imagine if like 2 cylinders werin't firing... that's how mine sounded... more like BLUM BLUM BLUM BLUM BLUM as i revved it and it woulnd't rev passed 3k rpm. changed the chip... still did it? hmm then what. bought a resistor box instead of using the inline ones... wired them up in about 20 mins... baddy bing no more bogging... took her for a spin around the block and was pretty happy with her performance.

well, the resistors work the same as the resistor box, so there's a chance that there was too much heat on one if you soldered it in and burnt it, or if you didn't solder, maybe you had a bad connection. i'm thinking that's what's up with this car b/c it builds boost find, but has no power at all! revs slow as ----, bogs, etc. etc., and we've checked and tested everything else, the car just feels like pure *** right now.....

haha... sounds like my car with my homemade manifold... and i posted pics to that outcome... my whole on my manifold was so small it jus drove like ***... built boost only on freeway and if it did build boost on the streets it didn't feel like boost? bov? what was that... mine never blew off. bad plugs? not firing properly? boost minus spark would run like ---- wouldn't it? i dunno... jus a couple of guesses to help u out buddy

i have never had a problem with inline resistors, but i had a bad resistor box before though.

yeah jody, it's running like *** like your car was when you had your dizzy retarded all the way from when you were running the hack anyways, i've been messing with it and i think it's just timing, i've been adding a little here and there until he's ready to take it to the dyno, and it seems to be helping, he has low comp., so i guess i just need to add some more timing
