k24 engine management
I've got a k24 bottom end and I'm going to put a k20a/a2 head on top and use an rsx-s ecu. I need a cheap, reliable ems that can be tuned on my own without a hondata dude holding my hand. Will megasquirt work even with the weird O2 sensors the k-series have and the vtc mechanism, will it drive the stock gauge cluster too? If not, does anyone know if there's a way to socket the rsx-s ecu's?

Re: k24 engine management
simple answer k-pro.
Gotta pay if you want to play. No support for the k motor in the free world. Read about k-pro and the k series and reality will sink in |

But yeah, go with Kpro.. all the K20 guys over here are mad about it. |
Re: k24 engine management
ghey. i figured there had to be another way than hondata. Guess not. Thanks though
edit: hey do any of you guys know if I'll run into any problems with using an rsx-s/tsx ecu and which year/one is better? |

But if you are worried about having to get a Hondata guy to hold your hand through tuning what is basically an OBD1 Honduh interface w/ a half dozen i-homosexual functions added, then I doubt you could get through wiring in your own Megasquirt or the like. |

I like K-pro. I'll post up a dynosheet of the last car I tuned on Kpro. Completely stock A3 (03 Civic Si) on 10psi. I'll be tuning it again because the goal is 400whp but the MAP sensor is definately going to need to be switched and a bit more tuning time will need to follow. It's do-able though, just some expensive engine management.

Re: k24 engine management
if you want cheap, just go with a vafc and an msd boost retard.

Re: k24 engine management
I'm not in the least bit worried about wiring a megasquirt and tuning it myself I just don't think it'll work with a k-series, the problem i have with the cheaper hondata's for the k-series are that they are "tunable only by a dealer with a K-Pro system" which is bullshit, I want to tune it myself and not pay someone to do something I'm capable of.
and I am planning on turboing it, but that probably won't happen for about 2 years. For now I just need an engine management system that'll work with my hybrid that I can modify for later on when I get reground cams and some boost. plus I can just lock the vtc mechanism to keep the cam gear at 0 degrees. by the way that ep3 is sick as hell. is that on stock internals/valve train??? |
Re: k24 engine management
Yes sir it is, Bone stock and I'm not done yet :D As for tuning the K-pro yourself I don't see why you couldn't. It definately takes knowledge of how the K series engines work (which it appears as you do) and will take some time learning the program but I know the dealer I work for that sells K-pro alway's supplies the customer with their copy of the software incase they want to do their own tuning. A dyno is definately the way to go with it though, not really something you can just tune on the street and call it a day.
