Just hooked up my JAW and...

i now realize why my idle is so fucked up when warm. i was at 20.0-21.5???? well at least i think thats why my idle was fucked, i haven't got a chance to re-burn my chip with the corrections yet, or even drive it with the wideband. i guess i'll see how the rest of the basemap is tomorrow on my way to work. as of tomorrow i will have gone a year on that basemap. don't know if anyone cares, but i'm fukin happy to finally be able to know wtf is goin on

way back in the day when i got my PLX i threw it on... my cruise was at like 19:1... no wonder it kept throwing O2 sensor codes :1

on the way into work, in vac crusin i'm at 16-17:1 :o no wonder i've been getting such great gas mileage. under full boost though its around 12.5-12.0 so that was pretty close on a basemap

You can usually tell if it's idling really lean just by the sound of it.

Re: Just hooked up my JAW and...

i was thinkin it was the timing, having never heard lean idle before.
can i up the timing in vac, above stock, because now i am running 93 octane??

There is no way you are idling that lean. Your car would kick off.

Well I do have my O2 sensor disabled on crome

And I don't think my JAW is giving bad readings

There is no way your car will idle that lean. The leanest I've ever gotten a car to idle was in the 17-18 range and it didn't like it at all.

what are you suggesting then? what should i check?

anyone else have any input on this??

I input that you shouldn't listen to inquisition and you should re-burn a corrected map.

I've idled at 19-20 before. It sure as hell didn't sound good at all, but it idled. This was with a 9.2 compression engine on 89 octane.

Where did you mount the sensor?

i allready have, its not perfect, but much better
my idle is 15-16 now and a lot smoother, when i put in the clutch as i come to a stop it doesn't almost die out, and it still surges a little bit. only for a sec. though, then goes into a nice idle

My car will idle at 25-1 :o I did a B18B swap using my original OBD1 VX injectors and couldnt figure out why it was so lean.I guess the VX has some uber small injectors.

If he doesn't, I'm sure you could get it shipped to someone on here and they would ship it to you, including myself.

Re: Just hooked up my JAW and...

All the people saying they idled at leaner than 18's got inaccurate readings.

Re: Just hooked up my JAW and...

recalibrate your O2 sensor and retest it and see what you get

90dx 07-06-2007 07:46 AM

Re: Just hooked up my JAW and...

I recalibrate my sensor before I put it in everytime.Maybe my sensor is going bad?How do i really tell :l

if you datalog via the stock ecu ie like in crome/uber then you wont read any higher than 18:1

maybe thats why you think its impossible?

Inquisition 07-06-2007 07:27 PM

Re: Just hooked up my JAW and...

I wrote most of the wideband support for Uberdata. I'm well aware of its limitations. I'm talking about off the wideband the readings. Leaner than 18s and your car will buck like crazy. 20's AFR you are not going to idle at all.

Oscar 07-06-2007 09:04 PM

Re: Just hooked up my JAW and...

Yes you are, especially on lower compression engines.

I tested mine with 2 different widebands. plx and lm1.
