just did a basemap and need a little help

i have a d16y8 obd2 i did the obd1 conversion and the guy made a base map but my car would just rev all the way up to like 6000 rpm. i followed the directions on uberdata and want to make sure i did it right. i did program the chip and its my first time doing all this and i put my chip in the ecu and started up my car. i revs up to about 2300rpm to 1000rpm back and fourth for about 5 minutes till it gets to operating temp. it smells a little rich im not sure if its just me. and i drove it around the block. so here are my questions.
i load GSR.bin then import p28 for my application?
is there anything i can do to stop it from reving to high to warm up?
any other help would be appreciated thanks.

You can ---- with the IAC slider but I just shoved a piece of tubing in the inlet side of the IAC to act as a smaller orifice, it worked great. Keep in mind the P28 map uses a base timing of 16 degree BTDC and your Y8 uses 12 degrees BTDC. Make sure you dont run too much timing.

Re: just did a basemap and need a little help

i made another map scaled it down in ign low and high to 12. i broke off a valve and a hose was connected to it to my intake. i broke the valve so i blocked it off and bought an intake that had onle 1 nipple on it. it doesnt seem to affect my idle with obd2 but my idle goes to about 1500rpm to warm up but it stays there not up and down.would this have to do with it?

you're saying the idle surges up and down right?

when it idles down to warm does it still do that?

most likely its an IACV issue, throttle body issue, or FITV if the obd2 mani's have them

you're saying the idle surges up and down right? yes.

when it idles down to warm does it still do that? i dont know what you mean by that but when the engine is warm is stops going up and down it just idles a steady 800rpm or so.

most likely its an IACV issue, throttle body issue, or FITV if the obd2 mani's have them
is the iacv the little valve that has a hose running from it to the intake pipe? its not a throttle body issue im pretty sure.

IACV on the obd1 stuff is on the back of the mani and it has two coolant hoses running to it. it also has wiring to it.

i have a valve that is broken it is a big metal thing with a valve on it and the top hose runs to the valve cover, and the other to my cold air intake i broke off the nipple on the valve that goes to my intake i blocked off the valve and it idles steady at 900rpm. but when i put my obd1 ecu in i put the ignition timing to 12.5
