Those seem like good prices for flash proms.

FYI, the "C" in 29C256 means it's 5v standard memory.

There's a bit of disagreement on what speed memory you should get... I've got a pile of 200ns PROMS that work fine, but other people get CEL 0's because 200ns memory isn't fast enough. I think it's that it would be more expensive to make a bunch of different speed memory, so the company that made the 200ns chips I have just made a big batch of 120 or 150 ns chips and stamped them all whatever.

For safety sake, you want 150 ns or faster.

hey guys, I have a 1989 honda CRX si and I have no idea what model my ecu is in the car, I am thinking that it is a PM6 but am not sure. I am also really interested in the ghettodyne system, and am not sure what or where i purchase the 28 pin EEPROM Socket, a couple of EEPROMs (ATMEL AT29C256) I think, 1 TTL to RS232 converter. (For serial communications) , and the rest of the kit. And where do I get the EEPROM's programmed? Sorry for writing this essay but I am not really willing to buy an MSD 6BTM unit and a FMU. Thnak you for your help

TurboCRX, scroll through the threads in this forum, you'll find your answers plus alot more.

Joseph, how can I tell (via part#) if a 29c256 is a rewritable eeprom? Finding prices from $13-$3ish, I ASSume the higher priced ones are the rewritables. Enlighten us.

29-series indicates it's a reflashable EPROM.

27-series require UV light to erase... the cheap plastic OTP (one time burn) ones don't have a window in them to shine UV light into.
