Joseph Davis - How to...
Could be nice a Write-up of how to repair a burned honda ecu, caused by overheat the board when do the desoldering job in ecu chipping process.
Yes i know i am a noob chipping my ecus but i think are a common problem too. |
Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
burning of something is a chemical process which is undoable. Burned parts will need be replaced.

If you see where it is burned, just jump it with a wire like you said. If a component is burned, change it... Knowing what cause it to burn can help to avoid future ECU problem too... |
Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
Did you see the new sticky about repair OBD1 ecu?

Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
do you know what layered pcb means?
no. do not pass go. do not collect $200. go straight to fail |

no. do not pass go. do not collect $200. go straight to fail These are only 2 layer PCBs. They are easily repaired. |

Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
I've followed the broken line and used a wire to fix it before.
I'm no soldering pro but if you're burning ---- you're most likely not using enough heat. You shouldnt need more than a second or two or three to do a single solder/desolder. |
Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
I won't cover that. Compare to a known good ECU, jumper wire.

Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
i know this i have paid alot even for p06s (40-60). i don't chip unless i have a ecu. you have probably seen the common so called expert chippers flopping around like a fish outta water lol

Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
I'm a couple years in over most people and I mess up ECUs sometimes, too. It is super rare, but ----. I think the last one I screwed up was for Hitchhikkr last summer.
|
Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
why maybe unless we are you the tester from moates wouldn't be such a bad idea. i just don't want to spend 200 on it. i was talking about the people who spend 250 or more for a chip which doesn't include the ecu! alot of dumb fooks here... where afc hacks rule
|
Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
I hear what you are saying. But. Just because most people are ignorant consumers doesn't mean HMTers should be.
|
Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
i agree, i don't have any problems with chipping ecu's. the crap isn't rocket science and takes very little of my time. moates has already sold out of the tester lol... crazy ----.
|
Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
They probably only did an introductory run of 50-100.
|
Re: Joseph Davis - How to...
Also, there are a couple things that can be fucked up that I'm not entirely certain that board would reveal. Some of the outputs, for example. I'll ask the people in the know and see if I can get some feedback on that.
