Injectors for boosted 99 EX

Somehow my injectors went bad? I threw an engine check light last ntie and i have2 bad injectors. I dont know how, maybe from the N2O? I'm only running 7 psi. So, instead of replacing the 2, Im just gonna replace em all infear the other 2 will ---- up. Quesation is, howd this happen, and will 370cc injectors be large enough to run or should i get 440cc? I like the dsm injectors, but i dont like the fact of running those risistor boxes.

Re:Injectors for boosted 99 EX

let me guess, you were running stock injectors with an fmu? the fmu puts extra stress on the stock injectors causing them to not last as long. if you don't want to run a resistor box, get some brand new 450cc's from tuner toyz for 200 bucks.

what the hell you actually got going on under the hood, boost and a dry shot of N2O?

you need to seriously evaluate your fuel management before you lose your precious motor.

Live with the dsm injectors, everyone else does (including us dsm people). hope ya got a walbro fuel pump to back them up, really hope you have enough management to be running a dry shot + boost

I got injectors with the greddy kit, dont really remember how big, and i have an FMU that came with it. For fuel management i have a BBK fuel pump, aem FPR, aem fuel rail. Yeah i'm runnin 7psi with a dry shot if ZEX. People been sayin I need a Wet system. Do I since I have FI? Are the DSM injectors reliable with the resistor boxes? Any engine check lights?

Dsm 450cc injectors with a resistor pack works great. I have not had any problems with my injectors. Remember 450cc are too big for the stock ecu, You will need a Vafc. I was wondering, since you have a greddy kit, didn't the kit come with a blue box for management? and not a fmu?

Re:Injectors for boosted 99 EX

Yeah it has that blue box, isnt that a piggy back FMU? i tink it is. yeah i need an SAFC, didnt get around to getting one yet, looking tho

nitrous is great for pulling teeth and blowing motors.

get a wet show before you trash your ----, the key is having lots and lots of fuel for it to use up and not go lean when you run it (especially since you're running boost). I normally so cars with either or, then again it's easier running a pull thru carbed blower then adding the solnoids for a wet shot on a v8

whats your setup because I'm about to call BS on your @$$!

son if youre gonna run nitrous on a boosted vehicle youre gonna need better managemant than that. You might also want to look into somthing with a boost retard in it, like an MSD BTM or even a chipped ecu. Yes, you DEF need a wet system.

Re:Injectors for boosted 99 EX

The main reason I have the dry system is because i had the ZEX kit before I even had ideas about boosting. So wehn i got the greddy kit, i just assumed that the dry kit would be ok, but apparently not. Now if I need to go to a wet kit, do I need to buy an entire new Nitrous kit, or can I just buy the necesary pieces?

Re:Injectors for boosted 99 EX

With the zex kit your going to need a whole new kit. Just sell your dry kit and buy a wet kit. Call it a $300 "upgrade fee".

The main reason for running a wet kit instead of a dry kit on a boosted is that the injectors are already "stressed" with the turbo, so adding more fuel through the injectors will just overload them with fuel presure. The wet kit eliminates this by injecting the gas via another nitrous type fogger nossle ( or through the same nozzle as the nitrous ).

Some other reasons ?
Fuel adamisses ( mixes with air ) better when injected into the Ic piping.

The extra fuel will also help cool the air like the nitrous does ( of course not as well ).

I'd love to try a 35 shot from a zex wet kit, but $600 and no ones used them/tested them, is the problems I have with it. No less I used to have a zex dry kit, and it kicked ass, until the bottle went dry, hehe...

Well, instead of goin through all the work, can i just hook up the N2O on the FMIC and use it like that. I kno NX has a FMIC set up, nothing spectacular, but sstill useful

well put 89dxhunchback, saved my ass from typing all that ---- ;). I don't know what the ---- I was saying in my last post, I must have been blinded by pain or some ----.. ---- it, not gonna correct the type-o's now.

Yeah, I forgot to mention about the timing retardation, but that kinda fits into that whole "engine mangement" thing that you are lacking on buddy. You are skating on thin ice for sure.

As far as running N2O on the front intercooler, I don't think that would be such a safe idea.. if you happened to rear end a pinto (which are ------- notorious for exploding on impact in the rear - ask me in a different post and I will explain that whole fucked up story) then you'd pretty much be a fireball. Water injection on the FMIC: cool, highly combustable fuel.. maybe not.

Ok, so screw the dry system, and lookin into getting the wet system. Im use i can call zex and just purchase the box, cuz zex doesnt use selenoids and ---- like that, its pretty simple. Or maybe just sell the N2O all together and just invest in some interals....

well i doubt he would be spraying down his ic while he was crashing into someone, and n2o isnt flammable the last time i checked

quadnie 05-06-2004 05:06 PM

Re:Injectors for boosted 99 EX

you are correct, nitrous oxide is not flammable by itself, only increases the combustion of an existing fuel.

still, would you run that setup?

Re:Injectors for boosted 99 EX

Do you think the dry nitrous system may have killed those 2 injectors?
