Ignition tables
 

when looking at the dual maps on TE2 i see that the vacuum side is pretty much the same as a N/A rom in terms of the MAP sensor values (ignition tables) but when you look at the numbers in the grid on a boost bin and compare them to them to the same values on an N/A bin, the boost bins values are much higher, could someone explain or give me a link to somewhere that explains this?

I would like to know how to create a base tune for my dohc ZC from scratch, I notice Jason has put TE2 compatible PM7 stock maps on his website so I figure I've got everything I need to get started plus he told me that I would be better off making my own tune rather than trying to modify someone elses to run in my car, I tried the stable rom but it craps out as soon as it hits boost, way too rich i think this is for a B18 anyway so I made my own fuel maps and still no joy I'm guessing the timing is in need of adjustment but I'm not sure how to construct the map so any help would be appreciated as I got an appointment with the rolling road tomorrow

BTW this is for a Euro spec CRX with a .42.48 T3 running a max of 8 PSI, not sure of the flow rate unfortunately

Sorry... I haven't really been paying attention to this thread.. :-[

What I would do to create a base ignition map is load your stock maps into the stabel ROM with boost set (4 maps being displayed). TE will complain about numer of maps being imported is not the same as the number of maps being imported, just say "Yes" to continue.

From there, take the last column of your vacuum ignition map, and paste it into every column on your boost ignition map.

From there, you have two options. The easiest is using TE's boost retard option (which does a linear retard, soon to include the next option).

Go to Tools -> Boost Retard, then enter your degree of retard. For a safe retard, I would use -.6

Then your base ignition map is set.

The other option is to use a "Step Retard". You'll have to do this by hand, but TE Try10 will include this. Basically, every 3psi you retard .25 degrees, starting at 3.

Example: From 3 to the end of the map, retard .25 degrees from each column. Then from 6psi to the end of the map, retard .25 degrees from each column, then from 9psi to the end of the map retard .25 form each column... so on and so forth.

So between 0-3 psi, no change, between 3-6psi .25 retard, 6-9psi will end up with .50 retard, 9-12 with .75.. and so on.

This will give more power, while still keeping ignition at safe levels.

Just got back from the rolling road, what can i say. . .the stepped retard is near perfect as is, you can get a little more power from it but it is as good as you are going to get whilst staying safe, thanks for the help.
