Idle Timing

Just installed the turbo into my car this past week and am trying to figure out some kinks.

Do you set your idle to "stock" timing regardless of have map you are using? I am using Uberdata and have installed a step-up retarding base map into my ecu.

I'm leaning towards putting the timing at 16 but am not certain... anyone

Re:Idle Timing

Start with the timing at stock location using Uberdata. You will retard by per inch of boost.

so i just put in the basemap and then put the dizzy timing to stock?

Re:Idle Timing

Yes, make sure your timing at the distributor is set at stock... The values in Uberdata are designed and calculated to be run on stock timing. Advancing or retarding the timing at the distributor will offset the adjustments made through the ecu.

Re:Idle Timing

All good advice, but its always good to put a dial back timing light on and make sure the dizzy matches what is entered into Uber for idle.
I like to do mine like this, so there is no room for error.
Setting your distributor to match the maps is one of the most critical parts IMHO.

Re:Idle Timing

so I am supposed to set the timing to EXACTLY what it is in the Uberdata map at the 24 psi vaccum? Mine for uberdata at 24 psi vaccuum is 25...

I have a timing light, but I just need to figure out if I should leave it at 16 (stock) timing or advance it to 25 which is what is on uberdata on low ign at 24 psi vaccum...

Re:Idle Timing

Set your Uber maps like the picture, that way you can be %100 sure it is idling at the timing specified on the map.
To answer your question though, yes what is in the Uber bin should match up when the dizzy is set to bone stock, as you will notice. But, this is not always the case IMHO. You dont wanna assume something as critical as your timing.
See sig.
