idle problem

i have a 93 talon and when i start it it revs up to 2000-2500rpms and then drops and surges between 1000-1500rpms. i know this is mainly a honda site but if anyone knows stuff about dsms that would be cool if you could help

stfu noob.

very common for surging idle to be caused by vacuum leaks, varied cylinder compression (ie large differences in cylinder pressure from piston to piston, ie you broke something), Temperature based Idle control valves (ie honda IACV type device)

thanx ill check that out and do you think that i could be the 02 sensor because its a heated sensor and as the car warms up the idle drops, but it still surges

Re: idle problem

kyle you should, pull the cover off the ecu and do a visual inspection, check the easy stuff first, it could be you o2 take a digital voltage meter and see if the voltage is fluctuating or staying near one point if it is fluctuating than it is ok. Hope you figure it out that car was a hell of a deal.

Re: idle problem

all dsm's idle surge, i had 2 of them, i finally got tired of trying to figure it out and just said ---- it, the dealer doesnt even know what causes it, its just a very common and annoying dsm problem, some people throw parts at it untill it stops, i was never willing to do that, but good luck if you find the root of problem let me know what it was im interested to hear it....
