I really suck at chip burning!
Ive been trying to do this for the last couple nights and i came to the conclusion that i just suck at this! so i need a little help here guys...
ok i just bought a willem from xenocron, followed the write up in the FAQ, but the thing that is throwin me off is that i have 27256's and the write-up is for 29256's...no biggy i just changed the dips for the 27's...all is good until i try to id the chip, well the button is greyed out so i cant id it...well i read somewhere that some chips you cant id them...so i move on. i do everything like i think i should (load up my bin and all that) and then when i go to program the chip i get an error. says something like error at 0x00 so im thinkin maybe ive got the wrong chips or something? wtf? should i just get some 29256's and try it then? need a little help here, thanks guys! |
Re: I really suck at chip burning!
If you have already tried to burn the 27c chip it will have info on it. You need to use a UV eraser to make that chip blank if its UV erasable...if not, you're fucked basically.
Get the SST27SF512 chips...cheaper, faster and more readily available than the 29c chips. Chris

Re: I really suck at chip burning!
You might need to try different things with it till it works...
I use 29C's, don't have to add the jumper wire, have to plug everything in in a certain order & use PCB3 instead of Willem (or whatever the other option is). |

I have to plug in my serial cord to the laptop, then my burner to the serial. Plug in the square end of the USB cable to the burner. Start the burner software. Insert chip & close locking arm. Then plug in flat USB to laptop. ID Chip. Erase Chip. & then Open and burn. When it's done. Shut down software, then remove chip. I even had my usb & serial cords tangled up and it wouldn't ID my chip... ??? |

Re: I really suck at chip burning!
Yeah, I don't know why it's like that, but that's how it works.
If I can't ID a chip right away, I don't even try burning. |
