I just bought a P28, but... (now with pics)
I just bought a P28, but i'm kinda scetched out about it. the guy who had it before me was a ricer, it's got "jun spec, vtec=4800 redline=9500" written on it with a sharpy marker. i took it apart and the 27c and 74h slots are both open, there are no capacitors or jumper. could it have been reflashed? is that possible? or is the guy just a ricer and I don't need to worry about it? i talked the guy down from $100 to $50 and when i showed up to get it I only brought $40, so he gave it to me anyway, I"m stoked. her's pics, what do you think?

Re:I just bought a P28, but...
you have the remains of a chipped ECU.
the ricer was kind enough to remove the 27C256 chip you need for it to run.
he also appeared to be nice enough to remove the 74HC373 chip needed for the EPROM.
Cut J1 to turn it back to stock (if he didn't already) or buy replacement 373 + EPROM chips, and add the caps C51,C52 if they aren't already there.

no, the 74h and 27c slots look like they do stock, there is no jumper there, and no capacitors. it looks stock in that respect, but i was just wondering if it could have been reflashed on the main processor?

Like blundar said cut the J1 jumper wire to return the ecu back to stock. And you should be all set. theres no way to "re- flash" the ecu. The picture is hard to see, but it doesn't have any of the "chipped" ecu parts except for the socket, so running it stock would be fine.
