i am confused
Ok, I just bought a 1989 honda CRX Si with 188,000 kms on it and I just bought an 88 si engine with 124,ooo kms on it and I am doing a stock rebuild on it. I just bought a Garrett T3 turbo with no shaft play off a 89 dodge daytona shelby z and an intercooler off the shelby also. I am installing the 89-91 DX exhaust manifold to mount the turbo to. I have no idea how to adjust the waste gate on the turbo and how much boost to run? I am thinking about running a MSD 6BTM ignition with the boost retard controllersetup. And a FMU with maybe 450cc injectors. I also have no idea what type of BOV I should run, thinking something louder. Also do I need a new fuel pump or not. I really only want like 5-6 lbs of boost. Just enough to beat 5.0's. also, will I need a secondary fuel pressure regulator? I dont know too much about imports, hondas specifically, I was really into muscle cars before and got the import turbo bug. If someone can help me out that would be great...Thanks for all the help so far I love this site so far, its great, even I am new to the import scene.

Re:i am confused
Well, despite their reputation, a FMU and stock pump/injectors worked fine at 6-7psi for my D16a6.
I would really read up about GhettoDyne. Cheap, precise fuel/igniton control. It doesnt get any better than that. In my experience, I required 0 ignition retard on my A6 at 6-7psi intercooled. Used a BTM, and it ended up set on 0 the whole time it was installed. Sit back for a good 4-5hrs and read the whole site.... ;) |
Re:i am confused

Re:i am confused
TurboCRX, I can burn you a chip if you like.
with the chip, you don't need a FMU, or nothing else except 450cc injectors (dsm)... Ghettodyne rocks, and I've been using it since it came out. what you WILL need however is pretty simple. Get a zif socket here: www.digikey.com for $6.50, part number: A347-ND zif socket is a simple plug that plugs in place of the chip so that you can add or remove chips easy and I can send you a chip... the chip will handle anywhere from 5-10 psi with no trouble. Just IM me and I can help you with anything else you need. If you don't have any experience with this type of work (installing a chip), I recommend that you get someone to do it for you.. but if not, you can do it yourself if your a little careful.. |
Re:i am confused
Graham,
Have the 20,10, and 0 vac transitions been fixed so they don't jerk? I don't want to zero out my V-AFC just to find that the chip as smooth as my VAFc. |
Re:i am confused
Those points are there due to the map scaling, but they are easy to miss. I don't even notice them anymore.
besides making a better resolution, I think there's another way around it.. I might play with it some.. Mike also said something about it a while back about changing it a little to smooth it out. |
