Does that Escort use EDIS? If not you can prolly easily adapt it... then you'd be golden to use all of the Megasquirt.

I run MSnS Extra using the new Hi-res code. Fuel and spark.

Re: How many of you guys are running Megasquirt?
msns-extra for almost 2 years now, setting it up on a Ford that already has EDIS was too easy

Re: How many of you guys are running Megasquirt?
I poked a bit at a v3.0 running an older v1.0 MCU today, installed in a 3.4 liter V6 powered second generation MR2 w/ .60 T3/T04E.
I have to say I'm pretty impressed. I'm not 100% enthused about a few small aspects of the GUI interface, but there is a LOT of seriously good ---- available. To support advanced functions you need to be able to build and wire some small special circuits yourself, but for a dedicated DIYer it's an awesome piece. |

I've been considering making an EDIS ring setup for Honda's though, I adapted EDIS to a couple other cars and it's no biggie. Not sure how exactly I'd like to attach the ring to the stock harmonic balancer yet. It's one of those things, the Honda ECU's are so damn hacked it almost doesn't make sense... but sometimes doing something 'different' is fun. Plus it would be cool to see the distributor not there on my car. A feat that I can't believe nobody (like Neptune or Hondata) hasn't yet accomplished. Anyway I'm ranting. |

This guy took a $12 crank sensor ring and modified it to fit the OEM pulley with hand tools and some savvy, you savvy?
It's a pretty fun vehicle. "Your intake manifold looks like it was made out of a piece of fence post" "That's because I made it out of a piece of fence post" But everything on it is pretty sound... you don't get many people who understand that free is a quality overcoming many faults AND are willing to drop huge amounts of money or labor to get the important things done (the mounts to sling the 3.4 V6 are homemade, etc). |

I used a MegaJolt Jr. Lite and kept it carb'd on fuel. As you can see one of them I slotted so I could play with advancing timing, but ended up making a VR sensor rig that was easier to advance / retard with. So anyway, if I can't get an Escort ring to fit I was thinking about just drawing up another ring for Honda balancer/pulley. |
