HOW TO homemade "Super FMU"

Here is a HOW TO, to lower the Fuel Ratio from FMU 12:1 for example to 8:1 or 2:1

To do that we need to bypass the Vac line that goes to the FMU with a MBC to restrict the air pressure the FMU reads, and instead of goes to 12:1 as preset (for example), only raise the fuel pressure controlled by the MBC as you want.

Enjoy

avoid using fmu's as a tuning devise....

I agree, but FMU are a nice option for low boost 6-7psi.

lol add a boost tap on the line and you have a fully incremental super fmu. top ----. not bad for low boostie

MAJORAHOLE 04-05-2010 11:01 AM

with any obd1, chipping is way better, and cheaper

yeah maybe chipping is easier but I have a neon and those ecus are not chippable

MAJORAHOLE 04-28-2010 03:44 PM

you never mentioned that

how do you know if its set tot 10:1 after using the mbc?
or are you just testing with a wb?

hard2obtain 10-07-2010 05:11 PM

Probably you can use a fuel pressure gauge inside the car

thats sucks u have a neon i love hondas OBD1 all the way

whats an fmu? or an mbc?

fuel management unit, and manual boost controller. dunno if there's an FAQ around here, but the FMU is normally a kind of fuel pressure regulator that increases fuel pressure in relation to boost (intake pressure above atmospheric pressure), i.e. a 1:1 FMU (which would basically be any vacuum-referenced fuel pressure regulator (FPR, VRFPR) would increase fuel pressure 1 psi for each 1 psi of boost, and decrease 1 psi for each 1 psi of vacuum. An MBC, when connected between an intake manifold vacuum source and the turbo's wastegate, allows you to block any vac/boost signal to it, in other words allows you to actively set the boost at which the signal is allowed to pass through, in order to open the wastegate.

hth ;)
