High Boost w/ SAFC II and MSD 6AL BTM - Can It Work? OBDO Crx
Just to start off, I am computer illiterate and change my setups to much to try and understand Turboedit and I dont trust it.
Ive got a 89 Crx Si with a d16a6 motor, slightly built bottom end with headwork. I plan on running 15psi on this block and 20 psi on my nice built block. I would like to use the safc 2 and an msd 6 btm. I really dont know what to ask other than does it work... I know soething about the afc advances your timing a good bit but that will be reversed with the msd btm right? I already have the msd btm and I already have a chipped turboedit ecu and burner, but id like to sell them to buy an AFC unit, just for the ease of use factor. I also have a twintec digital display wideband that i will be using to tune with. i really dont know what to ask yet other than if it can be done and fairly reliably for a nice street car on 93 octane. What problems would I see? Im sure I'll have more questions when people try and help me out |

load dependent timing advance, good idea!
afc is a bad idea. have someone local who knows turboedit or BRE tune for you. |

Nobody is local and i dont wanna have to depend on a tuner and wait a long time to get my car tuned.
I know I change my setup a lot and this seems perfect for me if it will work i have a wideband if it matters, just dont know how to hook it up, has a trick digital display to |
Re: High Boost w/ SAFC II and MSD 6AL BTM - Can It Work? OBDO Crx
I think its a much better idea to do whatever it takes to get turboedit working, all i really did to get turbo edit working good in my crx was had chris (xenocron) make my base map, then i used a wideband and burner to edit regions of the fuel map and add/take away like 3-5% fuel at a time untill i had decent afr's, ( 13.8:1-15.5:1 in vacum, and about 11.5:1-12.1:1 in boost) then i turned on the open/close loop operation so the 02 sensor was giving feedback in vacum, and this made perfect afr's in vacum, and i was happy with 11.5:1-12.1:1 afr's in boost, then i set ignition timing to .75 deg. of retard per psi in boost, i have no detonation, good power, and i spent like 2-3 hours getting it set up like this, it was easy as hell, granted its not a perfect dyno tune, but it works very well and is safe, better than a afc and btm any day, also my motor is 10.2:1 c/r b16a so with lower compression it should be easier to get away from detonation, and i used ngk 7's plugs, stop being a pansy and just do it, have someone good make you a good base map to start with and its easy from there...

Re: High Boost w/ SAFC II and MSD 6AL BTM - Can It Work? OBDO Crx
I just read this massive thread about using a gm 3 bar with the afc and dsm 450's and it allows you to start at zero % fuel and you end up at about -10% after tuning
I could just buy an afcII and run the dsm 450's, gm 3 bar and tune with the wideband This would solve all safc timing increases wouldnt it? Check the thread if you already havent http://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=531705 |

Jesus Christ, kid, I already -----d that thread up with why it's a ------- stupid idea. Didn't you just claim to have read it? ::)

To amyn ------- numbers in these systems
I dunno if that setup would work though, everyone would be using it if it was that easy I wish Turboedit was like a afc somehow, oh well, thats why im gonna have to pay a tuner Good luck |

For what your going to spend on that hack of a setup just buy a LC1 wideband and a chipped ecu and figure it out. This ---- is not really that hard you are just to lazy to put any effort into learning anything.Do you think people here were born with the ability to tune cars?
