Default Help with VAFC w/ D16z6 + DSM 440's

I have a D16z6 with a T25 and some DSM 440's. My question is about how much correction should I be pulling out of the 440's with the VAFC? I have it set at -30 for the first few thousand RPM's then gradually increase but I think that is a little too lean, I am very scared of detenation so if anyone could help direct me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

I dont have a wideband, but I do have an air/fuel gauge. Will that work if I just run it rich?
