help with my "zdyne" ecu

ok so i bought a bunch of stuff for a great deal and i was told this ecu is a pm6 chipped with the b16 program with 1 wire vtec by zdyne. Then i took a closer look, it says it was made in 87 which i was completely unaware of (unless they were made earlyer than put in cars) kinda like the 06 cars will come out in 05......and then i looked inside and i was thinking i would come across a 28pin zif.....but its huge (im guessing the 88-89 kind)......is this a real zdyne? is the pin for vtec the same as a pr3 ecu?......its gonna run my crvtec for a bit....thanks!

thats a ZDYNE ecu, however, its not a GOLD SECU or you would have a way to hook it up to a computer.

ZDYNE replaces the processor, not the chip like we do with TurboEdit

You're going to have problems because the fuel and timing maps in that ECU are for a 1.6L Vtec and you are going to be running a 2.0L vtec...and it has a set VTEC point

Not good, you'll need an (V)AFC or something...

yeah, i would suggest running an afc with it also, unless you just ditch that ecu totally and go with something else. are you planning on boosting the motor?

Re: help with my "zdyne" ecu

well im thinkin im gonna go with a little all motor fury lol......its gonna be in my daily driver and i really dont want to blow up my beatiful b20 with 6k kms......i was thinking i would have to use a vafc or something, i just had doubts about the ecu....i will more than likely sell it and go obd-1 (im assuming uber is better for all motor than turboedit).....

Why...

The only reason I'd tell you to go Uber over TE is because you are running VTEC...

The vtec maps are very important to the engine. You would have to ask blundar how far the map switching code went in the OBD0 stuff. I know we discussed a lot of ideas on the vtec code but I got too busy to develop code for it and eventually left the project for a standalone.

Sellout :P

Nah, I meant why else besides the fact that he is running VTEC.
