Help with Chipping!

Okay here is the deal I have a PR4 A10 ecu and just wondering if its chippable? Because I baught a chip for it and chipped it but it only goes up to 7000rpm; the chip says it should go up to 8000rpm. Is there something I missed when I chipped it? All you have to do is unsodder the old chip and sodder in the new one right, or is there another part that I forgot?

so it works fine with no check engine lights or anything? it just doesn't rev as high as you though? if this is the case, then they lied about where the rev limiter is set. did you solder the chip straight in or solder in a socket to put the chip in and out of easily?

I sodderd it straight in. No check engine on and it drives fine but does not hit 8000rpm like it says. Maybe I should go back in and resodder the connections again.

well, you're suppose to solder in in capacitors at c51 and c52, a resistor at r54, a jumper at j1 and a 74HC373 chip where it has the outline for a smaller chip appropriately labeled '74HC373'. basically, you're still running off your stock rom, is that how high it revved before you soldered the chip in?

Yes, but this is a OBD0 ecu. So you dont need to sodder in a risistor or J1 jumper.

nevermind, i thought you were talking about obd1 pr4. yeah, you just solder the chip straight in to obd0 ecu's, no other components needed, so if it runs fine, just doesn't rev as high, you got a bunk chip :P
