Help with chip burning please!

Hey folkses!

Well I got this willem burner today. I read the "how to" on he thing. Sounded pretty damn simple, but I can't figure this crap out.

It's a 27C256 chip, I guess UV to erase. (btw, how do I erase this damn thing?). What are the willem settings for this chip? Where does the chip get placed and what are the dip settings? The ones in the picture don't correspond with the card.

I don't give a ---- about how great and/or easy your moates burners are. I'm asking about a willems. I'm a cheap bastard.

Thanks!

It sounds like you have the enhanced, (I got the same chip with mine). OK first you dont want to use that piece of ---- chip, u need to buy some 29C256's I bought 2. these you can erase and reburn on as many times as you will ever need to. as for the burner itself, there were a few posts a while back on how to get it working, ITS A BITCH, but once you figure it out you'll kick yourself because of how simple it really is. Just search and u will figure it out. It took me prolly 2-3 days to get mine to work, but its been working like a charm ever since.

EDIT: you CAN use that 27c256 but you need to have some special erasing machine that holds it under some uv light bullshit for like 15 mins, its gay. it takes about a quarter of a second to erase 29c256 chips on that burner.

hah alright thanks, yeah I don't know why the hell they even sell those piece of ---- chips. Sounds gay. My friend says he has another 29c256 he just has to find it. I followed the steps exactly as stated in the how-to, but I keep getting an error, think it's just with the chip? Thanks!

If you leave the 27c256 out in the sun for about 8 hours, it'll wipe it. Pop the chip in a read it, if it's anything other than a bunch of FF's it has data on it and you can't do anything with it until it's erased. You can make an eraser with a germiicidal fluorescent bulb and anything that it will fit in andl light it up, just be sure to enclose it. I had a battery operated Blacklight that I swapped the bulb with a g8t5 bulb. I'd just turn it on and throw it and a bunch of 27c256's in a drawer for about 15 mins and it would wipe em. BTW, 27sf256's and 27sf512's are both electronically erasable and are cheaper than 29c256's.

yeah, I'm not sure why they threw this chip in with the burner. I'm gonna find some electronically erasable ones and but will try what you all suggested. Thanks.

I guess that's a matter of opinion. For ease of use for burning chips for ECU's, the moates is where it's at. But the Willem burns an assload more chips, including PICs and every chip you'd ever conceive of using in a Honda ECU. Just a matter of perspective.

Yeah...I could have went with moates, but I figure once you learn how to burn a chip with willems it'll be easy as hell...and cost a bit less. Also like others have stated it has a few more abilities than moates. BTW I'm a cheap bastard.
