Can you add a knock sensor to an car with out one and wire it up to a led light? so u know when u have detanashion, if so what can i steel a knock sensor off of or what kind can i ask for at VIP?

Yes on the O2. I did this before with a GM O2 sensor. Just wired the heater to a switched 'key-on' power source. I did it because the stock o2 would cool down too much during cruise when it was mounted in the DP. Seemed to work w/o any problems.

Re:heated o2 and knock sensor
Buick guys have a product that hooks up to the knock sesor and makes a sound that gets progressivly louder as kock increases. Its called a "knock alarm" I think.
My friend and I both have turbo SOHCs and we were just talking about adding a knock sensor and we thing there is a place on the very back of the block for one to fit. But either way the ECU isn't going to account for it like DSM ones do ( like retarding the timing when it sees knock ).
Even a knock sensor hooked to a "knock alert" would be great, we basiclly tune blind... EGTs are different for every car and set-up and A/F ratio is just a setting really that has nothing to do with timing or load..
I'd love to have a kock sensor on my SOHC, so if anyone has any ideas, I'm open for suggestions...

Re:heated o2 and knock sensor
It's possible to build some of the old APC-systems from Saab in your car and hook it up to a warning light or something.
If you run a little search on av.com or google.com you will find a couple of sites that explain how it works.
Forgot to tell what the APC-system is ; the system lowers boost pressure when knock occurs. Believe it also retards the timing on later model APC's.

Re:heated o2 and knock sensor
not knock sensors around here...
Knock sensors found on both honda and GM motors are nothing more than microphones optimized for the frequency range in which detonation occurs.
you really should read through all of:

ok i looked at

and saw nothing haveing to do with voltage, i really do think a knock sensor is an AC generating sensor
