h22 ek swap fried ecu, was running, now no spark.....pics, need ideas
A local guy had a shop I help out swap an h22 into his ek, i was not there for any part of it. I believe its a dx, either way its a model with no tach. They used a locash racing obd2b to obd1 conversion harness. Apparently it ran for a day just fine, but then the next morning they go to start it and it just turns over and never fires. So they try new cap/rotor/coil/bla bla bla......I tell them to check the input signal to the dizzy to make sure its even being told to spark, and they are getting no signal. They were using a p13 ecu, not sure what thats for, but i plugged in a p14 they have, tried to start it and it fries the ecu, check this out

i havent had a chance to see if the p13 is fried, but what would cause the ecu to burn out right there
what are the corresponding pins for those? i just dont do the h22 or ek stuff so im kinda lost, i would assume its there wiring somehow but not sure, any ideas would be great, thanks!

tracing it as best as I can, it looks like the ignition output signal line that that driver was on.
if that's the case, it's probably a short in the dizzy, coil/igniter related.
looks like it traces to pin A21..

So weird you bring this up...
I have a friend with an H22 in an OBD1 DX hatch and it likes to smoke/render disabled...P28 ECUs
On the P13 before we put the turbo stuff on it ran fine. P28 after...smoked...fried 2 of them completely.
Then he went AEM...car never ran right and finally the dizzy rotor snapped and fucked the motor.
Rebuilt the motor...had it swapped back in and the engine harness replaced.
Fired right up on an Uberdata programmed P28 ECU. Drove nice for 45-1hr and then quit...solid cel on the ECU. No matter what i did, couldnt get it to go. it would start, but completely in limp mode. Threw a stock P28 in there to see...no codes. WTF?
Had it towed back to the shop who did it...they were baffled. Played with some under dash wiring.
BTW, the P28 with solid cel works fine in my car right now
Brought a different, freshly chipped P28 back down to his car with the previous program. Fired right up...ran again for another 45-1hr. Came back to the shop and parked it. Hung out for an hour...went to go start it up, nothing
Who ------- knows...car is now at ANOTHER shop getting totally rewired for AEM again. Im just glad I dont have to do anything with the POS car...I told him to sell it.

Sounds like my friend's car. It fried a resistor in its p28 the other day and wouldn't start. We replaced the resistor and it still wouldn't start. Then he hit the main relay a few times and it started right up. He since replaced the relay and now it works fine.

Hmmm... I have an extra main relay actually... if i could find it. I'll tell them to replace it and then pray. I can't give up on the car now! It's almost there.....

what injectors are you running? the 92-95 prelude injectors? maybe there was no resistor box hooked up and it fried the ecu?? i dunno just a thought. didnt really see anything in the post stating which injectors they were using
