getting fuel cut on turbo crx. why? help?

Hello everyone i have a 91 crx si with a d16y8 thats turboed with a t3 turbo. im using an safc with 450cc injectors and i even have an fmu. it will run rich up to 5200 rpms and then fuel cut will hit. thats only under full throttle. im also using an 89 intergra ecu this happens even lower on the stock si computer. can someone help me. why is it cutting at 5200rpms

i dont think you should be runing an fmu if you have the afc. defeats the purpose of the hack

i kind of figured i didnt need the fmu so i did take it off and im still getting fuel cut or what ever you want to call it. does any body know what the deal is. im thinking its my ecu. maybe i need to get a fuel cut defenser or an stand alone

check the ecu maybe its an automatic ecu those have the fuel cut offs and rev limiters and stuff.

Re:getting fuel cut on turbo crx. why? help?

the ecu is the right one. its out of an 89 integra but it does the same thing with the 91 si ecu tooo. safc is set pretty good. it did the same thing with the fmu and stock injectors

Re:getting fuel cut on turbo crx. why? help?

yeah i still have the stock pump on i have a 255 walboro that i need to put on but i kinda got discoraged with the fuel cut. you think its the pump

Re:getting fuel cut on turbo crx. why? help?

it sounds like its just a lack of fuel flow from not having a good pump....my friends car did it and it went away when he put in an inline...just my 2 cents

The AFC reads 5200 rpms when the cut happens, or your tach?

t.locrx 03-24-2003 08:27 PM

Re:getting fuel cut on turbo crx. why? help?

both the tach and safc reads it. its really inconsistant. its anywhere from 4800rpm to 5200rpms. it doesnt feel like the average fuel cut. i tried retarding my timing 5 degrees still didnt work. im lost and need help. even tried using someone elses computer

Re:getting fuel cut on turbo crx. why? help?

running too rich in upper rpms can make it stutter like a fuel cut.

what are your afc settings exactly??

Re:getting fuel cut on turbo crx. why? help?

ok my man heres the answer if you had my problem. the reason i think i know is becaus ewhat you describe sounds dead on what i experienced. What is happening is that your afc is not hooked up right and is only operating on low vtec tuned fuel maps. the high vtec is not tuned to negative 40 or so like the low cam fuel maps.

Your afc is set incompletely to fix this you need to:

1.enter the narrow throttle settings for fuel (not values but the settings menu: narrow throttle)

2. set the values for low cam
3. hit the > (right arrow) key to enter high cam values
4. do the same for wide throttle.

mine did the same thing and it was merely dumping fuel because of programmer error.

if it isnt this check your vtm wire , your vtec wires, and solder all connections if not already soldered.

My friend didnt solder and his car would not activate vtec (no signal duh) because loos connections.

hopefully that solves your problem, it has saved a couple of my friends hours of guessing.

Re:getting fuel cut on turbo crx. why? help?

ive got the safc not the vafc. right now ive got the settings as 1k rpm -40
2k rpm -40
3k rpm -39
4k rpm -38
5k rpm -36
6k rpm -36
7k rpm -35 and thats on low and high
throttle. throttle position is 20% and 40%
