Freeware for tuning M30 BMW eproms
Well, I successfully found the maps and wrote an spc file for the freeware DME editor. This is for BMW big 6 M30 enines, motronic, 535 635 735 ending years '87 or '88. One may swap an early model box ('059) into a later m30 motronic car to avoid check sum problems. Early motronic did not use it.

The m30 air meter is AFM air flap with
a 0 to 5 volt response. The AFM (airflow meter ) has a logarithmic output of airflow vs voltage ... LN(F)=b+(Up/Uv)*a .
The DME editor will make it much easier to turbocharge an M30 engine, match bigger injectors, etc.
BMW made a turbocharged version using a kkk27 with the same engine (same compression) and used motronic also. It was built for the autbaun, final drive was around 3.0. Midly tuned at 245 hp (na was 185 to 205) a copy of that eprom would give a great starting point. I am looking for it.
I believe the bosche injectors used for that was 0 280 150 200. A set of turbo Sabb injectors would work fine on this fuel rail to 360 hp. Then just switch to rx7 primary with resistor pack added.
I'm slowly building a twin turbo M30 motor to replace the baby M20 in my e28 5 series. I was going to fit gm enginemanagement and start with a sty prom but will now hammer out a motronic chip and use a sabb APC for knock and boost control. Using mitsu turbo's from 740 volvo. final drive ratios I have to try are 2.73, 2.93, 3.25, 3.45, and 3.79 all limited slip.
I'm also watching for a local deal on a civic si to ghettodyne.
regards,
IPM

Please keep us updated. Nothing against Hondas, but we have too much Honda content... it's nice to see other builds going on.
Oh, FYI, mount the Saab APC on your engine now before it's turbo to tune the APC for your engine so it doesn't just pull boost all the time - they are hyper sensitive when put into a different configuration. Hook a wire to pin 19 (does not come equipped with a wire in that spot, prepare to get wacky modding the plug). Pin 19 will ground under knock... I run one of the big fat happy 12V LEDs from Radio Slack into it, fused power on the other side of the LED.
