I've been busy. Here's a link to files for 745i turbo bmw, stock 635 535 735 bmw to '87 or '88, stock bmw 528e (work for 325e also) and turbo mazda year '87 and turbo mazda year '88. All items with winbin ecu files are works in progress. Sure would welcome help to improve them!

Question, would the '87 mazda be considered an "obd0"?? Would the '88 mazda be considered "obd1"??

I believe "OBD0" is Honda groupie nomenclature that we use to keep the various ECU platforms seperated. It is not a valid OBD, and other cars shouldn't be grouped as such.

OBD1 started around 90-92, I think 92 was the manditory point at which a standardized CANbus had to be implemented as well as certain emission standards met. 96+ OBD2 was the big deal.

Actually, the term could apply to the mazda ecu's. There's a large difference between the '88 and the '87 units. Appears to be two different generations. I looked at some NA mazda's of similar years and the distinction holds. Also looks like one could swap the turbo eproms into the NA ecus and have turbo computers. Soldering a 28 pin dip would be required.
The '88 on cars would have to wire up a solonid controller to the harness for boost control. The '87 lacked this. Ignition control appears to be an external function, not in the ecu for the '87 as well.

I may be able to get a code dump from an 87-89 (??) 318is for you to add to your harem... ECU scans along with that, of course.

The kid's supposed to come talk to me about building him a manifold. I'll let you know.

Yes please do pass on the 318i bin file! I've not been able to get one.

I've been very busy again. Have been gathering info and tools for disassembling the bmw '059 and '007 code. I'm not at all adept at that, but am corresponding with some knowledgeable folks.

Also corresponding with a deveopment engineer that has developed '059 ecu programming including serial connection, real time data logging, and virtual gauges. Very similar to what ghettodyne did for honda.

Hopefully, I 'll be using it soon, testing and tuning. I will not be able to share the bin files unfortuately. But he might eventually provide it to the public.

manage, build, create, or be a driver. Just provide what I know. I've learned more. I believe I have enough points identified to easily tweak '84 and earlier 3.3 l motronic BMW's and all eta 2.7 and 2.5 bmw's excluding '88. I'll soon get around to updating the ecu configuration files for somethin better than winbin.
'85 and later 3.5 l motronic is good to go with dme editor until checksum feature use by oem began. Looks like DME will work for '88 2.7 eta, and all 2.5 l i motronic cars as well but I'll not be developing that. I've taken a short stab on '91 VW CIS and it also looks promising. I stopped with those after first try to satisfy my curiosity. I don't own a BMW i car or VW. It's likley this info will remain largely unknown. I've developed it sufficiently for my purposes and my cars. And have no interest in "constant" republication or management/development of that info other than what's already on my local disk. Other interests are calling such as finishing the twin turbo 7 series, grafting tbi system onto an old 454, and other just plain fun stuff. Heck the water skis have not been wet yet this year!

infidel.pgmfi.org is still in the works, but I haven't forgotten my promise to provide a home to your (and others) efforts. Mike (xtensive) is making a ghettodyne for his TTZ now too. :)
