fmu + regulator?
I have a 12:1 fmu right now and im running too rich and I thought I could adjust the fmu but I guess i can't. So would a fuel regulator be the next step?

Re:fmu + regulator?
You're probably better off getting an adjustable fmu. I believe Cartech makes them for a fairly decent price. I'm not sure on all this though cause i'm not boosted yet. :-[

Re:fmu + regulator?
use a valve to bleed off/limit the boost the fmu sees to lean it out some

Re:fmu + regulator?
Would a bleeder valve screw up other things T'd into that vacum line like the boost gauge?

Re:fmu + regulator?
Sounds like it works just like a manual boost controller, except it's inline with the fmu? Which makes sense, because if the fmu doesn't see boost then it won't raise fuel pressure, which will in turn lean out of the mixture.
Don't take my word for it, i'm just a newbie. :) Stan |
Re:fmu + regulator?
I was looking at the recalibration kits for the vortech fmu and it looks like the 12:1 is the only one without a ring type deal around the washer. Dose anyone know what that is, because i was going to try putting in a smaller diameter washer which is all the difference is, but i dont know what that ring is for?

here is the site if u dont know what im talking about. http://www.vortechsuperchargers.com/products/fuel.html

Re:fmu + regulator?
no clue about the ring, but you dont need to hook up the fmu to vacuum, just boost, so a bleeder shouldnt affect anything

Re:fmu + regulator?
ok i figured out the ring thing. But the bleeder valve, do you think I could just pick that up at a hardware store? where would i get somthing like that?

Re:fmu + regulator?
any kind of valve would work in theory...mind you ive never tried this, although ive seen it done and i will be doing it soon with my new setup
