FMU I don't get it

Maybe another stupid question guys, can't find it in the FAQ. I understand how to make the turbo, but how about management? Do you put that together too, or is do you buy that as a kit? And what exactly is it? I mean like ist a chip, a thingy, cuz all I can see is a bunch of wires

An FMU (Fuel Management Unit) is a mechnical device that runs on air pressure.

It's a glorified fuel pressure regular that has a diaphram with a certain "Tension" to it.

When positive manifold pressure is reach, it increases fuel pressure X psi per 1 pound of boost.

This is called the ratio. You'll see them when referencing FMUs.. like, 8:1, 10:1, 12:1.. so on. This is not the same as an Air Fuel Ratio (AFR).

Basically, with say and 8:1 FMU, it will increase fuel pressure 8psi for every pound of boost it sees.

Installation is easy. You have an in line from the fuel rail, and an out line from the FMU to the gas tank. There is typicall a vacuum nipple on top you connect to your intake manifold. No wires, no chips, no electronics..

Damn, guess I'm clueless. So you have to buy a sepereate FMU right? Or is there a stock FMU?

You buy the FMU. You already have a pre set FPR (fuel pump regulator) Yes you need to buy it. Or scrap the whole idea and chip your ECU.

fuel PRESSURE regulator ;)

not to sound mean dude, but your obviously clueless. there are many different routes you can take for 'engine management' which is essentially what an fmu, you need to read up, study and decide which one best fits your needs.
